Brady violated a league rule that amounted to cheating

According to the NFL he only "More likely than not" violated a league rule.

The other unions have more room to work. NFL players' careers are 1 1/2 years shorter on average than the other three sports. Also the season is much shorter. The issue is that NFL players can't really afford to strike without damning the careers of the majority of their players.
They are essentially forced to agree with things that continue to screw them. I'm not convinced the NFL absolutely needs a PA.

If I more likely than not violated a work policy, I am getting in trouble as well. The NFL, and your employer as well, is not a court of law.

The NFL is incompetent with old Roger at the helm. Don't need to look any further than the football fiasco with Brady. I doubt he gets suspended, but who knows with that group of clowns running the NFL!

They have been investigating him for 13 months and to not suspend him at this point would be an embarrassment and they walk away with egg on their faces.

How? The casual fan doesn't follow this. NFL can always say it was doing the due diligence it thought was necessary.

Why do the owners even care?

Probably the fricking Mara family with their hand on goodell's balls wanting to get a competitive advantage against their division rival. Wouldn't be the first time.

I think Jerry Richardson is the biggest pro Goodell guy out there. He really wants the power that Kraft and Jones have

On the other hand, Elliot has been cleared of all wrongdoing by the authorities.

It's important to note this isn't the way the law works. Criminal law works on a beyond reasonable doubt burden of proof, which is much higher than civil courts, much less a private company's conduct policy.

That's not specific to Elliot, just something to consider in general.

NFL does not have a "beyond a reasonable doubt" burden of proof to carry.
