Atlanta will get a first rounder when someone signs Santana next year. And it will probably be a higher pick than 28. So we are just moving up in the draft

Holland just took over the closer role full time and was better than Kimbrel in many areas, both pitched exact same # of innings but the Braves won 10 mores games than the Royals did so Kimbrel had more opportunities to get a save

Holland:2-1
47 saves 103 SO 18 BB 3.1WAR 0.87 WHIP 1.21 ERA- equal
3 BLSV-less blown saves

Kimbrel: 4-3
50 saves 98 SO 20BB 3.3 WAR 0.88 WHIP 1.21 ERA
4 BLSV

Royals were 32-25 in one run games in 2013 so that is potentially 25 more opportunities for a save if the offense could score more runs

Braves were 27-20 in one run games

I think after decades of crappy baseball, you deserve the right to be a homer troll.

Stats don't lie. People use stats to lie. Just because Holland had one great season, it doesn't make him the best closer in baseball. It just means he had a great season. Once he does it consistently through a period of time, then your argument will have some merit.

Holland has never blown 8 saves in a season either , and has had a similar season to last season he just wasn't the closer

2011 60.0 inning pitches 19 BB 74 SO W 5 L 1 4 SAVES 18 holds 0.93 WHIP 1.80 ERA

Who gives a shite if he was the official "closer"? He still pitched a bunch of innings in relief and outside of last year he hadn't been at Kimbrel's level.

Also to the person (s) who said our farm system hasn't yielded anything one of our top pitching prospects pitched today

Yolando Ventura

"According to scouts and writers on twitter, Ventura looked absolutely incredible today. A scout said he saw a lot of 101's on his radar gun, and he threw one fastball at 102. Curve also reportedly was really good."

Ventura will win AL rookie of the year

Joe Blanton pitched 5 innings today and gave up one hit. He will win the CY young this year. See how dumb that sounds?

Not even remotely the same, we know what Blanton is his ceiling is #5 starter AAA depth, Ventura is a top 50 prospect who has been dominant in the minors

A 3.5 career era in the minors isn't exactly dominant

It is kinda nice having people fight over whether the Royals are worth a shite or not. Its been a foregone conclusion for many years.

The Myers/Odorizzi trade is a disaster without a playoff appearance this year, but this fan base is so starved for success that even a wild card game loss would leave us overjoyed.
