2013 NCAABB Championship game. Great times

Is the Georgia Dome that bad in condition they are building something brand New? I gave no clue as I don't follow it

I have 2 hotel rooms for the Alabama FSU game next year. Never made a game in the dome, but will make memories in the new stadium.

I can not wait.

When did Jordan play there?

1997-98. His second game here that year was his final Bulls game in Atlanta and an NBA attendance record.

Well, in defense of the Braves, it was never a "baseball field". They took it because it was a cheap alternative to building a new one, as all they had to do was move into the retrofitted Olympic Stadium.

Turner also needs a shitload of upgrades, which the city, as the owner, could not afford...so they're gonna go frick up Cobb traffic 81 days out of the year.

The Georgia Dome is a state-owned building and the organization wants to own and run their own place.

The state through the GWCCA will still technically own it but the Falcons will get most if not all of the revenue.

No, but it's starting to show its age (at least from some of the more internal stuff I've seen from working there a few times recently). Also, the Falcons don't get a ton of revenue from the facility due to the state of Georgia funding its entire construction cost back in the early 90s. Basically Rankin Smith was an idiot in dealing with the state.

Kind of. The Ted was designed as a baseball park and then reverse-engineered during the planning phase to accommodate Olympic and Paralympic events for 3 months. Had the Braves/CoA not had a falling out, the plan was to play there for at least 40 years. Oh well.

Made tons of great memories in my many trips there. From conferences and concerts to NFL games and college football kick offs, championships, and bowls. Hate to see it go!

Very true, but I figured my answer was close enough.

It is still on state-owned land and there will still be continued involvement with GWCCA, but definitely less than it is in the Dome era.

Yea but Ted pretty much cut a pretty shitty deal with City of Atlanta and Turner Field back in the day as well.

ACOG should never have given the place to the COA but Im sure it was all part of the Olympic shakedown

It was always designed with baseball in mind first. It would have been stupid to design more as an Olympic venue when it was only going to be used that way for a month.

It was a great MLB venue when opened in '97.

It was only built in 92 and they are replacing it. You guys have some real geniuses up there in Atlanta.
