to be fair, this is a Deep South oriented board
I watched the Cubs in the '80s on TV and enjoyed it. But I fell out of the habit. For a sports fan, it must be great having a team that you live and die with every day. The NFL only gives you that once a week.
If NO had a team I'd follow them. But I can't bring myself to root for Texas teams, or the Braves, or -- God forbid -- yankee teams like, er, the Yankees

You're using the MSB as your barometer? Dumb.
I hardly ever come to the MSB to discuss baseball other than Braves threads. Just because I'm not commenting doesn't mean I'm not watching.
I do discuss general basketball here though because there are quite a few knowledgable fans.

I'm watching the baseball game

If the Cubs make it I would watch. Don't GAF about the royals and Giants

This.
The Oakland-KC wildcard game thread was pretty long IIRC

Yeah just a stupid deduction this thread is.

i do believe that there is a decreased interest in baseball, but it's really not all that large.
Ya know I was a huge Royals fan back in the 70/80's but as the team faltered I lost interest and at the same time the Royals were starting their slide into the abyss the Chiefs hired GM Carl Peterson and HC Marty Schottenheimer and the Chiefs turned it around. Was not long and the KC area was all about the Chiefs but I think with this young talent the Royals have they may just wake this old baseball town up.

I wonder how many game threads for NBA finals blowout games went under 6 pages in the last few years

Sorry, was too busy actually watching the World Series to be posting all night about it.
Also, Lebron and the Lebron fan boys have ruined any interest I have in the NBA right now. Maybe if the Pels can win some more games this year I'll develop an interest again.

it's baseball
it's not like you don't have ample time to post between the action

I played baseball. I watched baseball. I loved baseball. I don't know what happened to me but I had no idea the World Series had started until tonight. My friends are the same way. While it is a very small sample size, it appears to me that baseball is dead.
Same here. I played baseball until I was 22. It was my life. But now I don't watch it at all on TV. Going to games is great though when it's easy to get free tickets.

You sound like an awful basketball fan and an even worse a Pelicans fan

I had Hornets half season tickets from 2010-2013. I used to love the Hornets when they had CP3 and D-West. Three years of "tanking" made me lose interest.

This. Tons of texas fans here.
Who here (or nationally for that matter) gives a shite about the Giants and Royals?
This is like the Pacers and Kings in the finals.

NBA fans are more loudmouth than MLB fans. Huge surprise there.

The narcissistic hip-hop generation prefers a blacker, sexier, simpler, flashier sport that's more focused on celebrity than the game? Color me shocked.
