I do think the Nugs would win in 5 or 6 against the Mavs. But you must not have watched them since the all star game. The trade pieces have really helped the teams all around defense and now their offense is much more multidimensional, no longer iso ball.

Nuggets have some issues right now. Their starters look gassed, Jokic isn't playing well and his wrist injury is back, Murray is out with no clear timetable to return, and they're gonna finish as the 3 seed if they don't push hard here.
Whole team is in a slump and beaten up. Not convinced they're coming out of the West again.

The West is stacked. Out of 15 teams, 11 have a record over .500. East has 8 of 15 over .500.
The team to avoid in playoffs is LAL. Because refs will give them 5 to 10 points of extra FTs per game. Thats a lot and opponents have to overcome the league marching orders to get LA in and keep them in.
Other than that it’s about health and matchups. Any of the teams could get hot and win the west.

Lots of uneducated basketball folk in this thread. The Mavericks bare minimum are a WCF team this season. Since the trade deadline, they have been playing dominant basketball. Gafford and Washington gives the Mavericks defense along with stellar offensive play.
The West is as contested as it’s ever been. I think Dallas can take on any team in the West, and go to the Finals against Boston.
To people that say Luka does not play defense he has the lowest opponent FG% allowed in the paint in the entire NBA. He’s top 10 outside of the paint in that statistic too. Also averaging 1.5 SPG now. “Luka doesn’t play defense” is a lazy regurgitated take from 2-3 years ago.

I still don’t think Kidd is very good and they looked like crap most of the year, but since the trade deadline they have gotten better every game and you can’t say they aren’t playing top level basketball right now
