quote:There is literally no metric you could use that would justify him anywhere near the top 25 at this point. He will undoubtedly be rookie of the year and it has been a very solid rookie season, but it Will not go down as an all-time great rookie season. 538 had some good write ups about his test his Season compared to other rookie players who were the same age as him. Although the articles were done in January, they looked at both advanced in traditional metrics, and he had was having an average to sub average rookie season compared to LeBron, Durant etc. His rebounds and assists are actually quite a bit lower than expected. In fact the stats are subpar in these areas.
If you watch Wiggins you can tell he's destined to be a star. He may be a top 25 player in this loaded league already.

Lebron is still a better defender
True. But the Cavs would, I'm sure, prefer to have him exert less energy on D.

Shumpert is probably better as well
Ehh, maybe, would be close.

Does Kevin Love never play in the 4th quarter? Or are you using a small sample size (maybe 3 games this entire season?) to say he doesn't play in the 4th quarter?
There have been 4-5 crucial games where he hasn't, including last night. It's a few games but when you gave up so much for someone, you'd expect them to be in for critical minutes (quarters) in critical games, no? They didn't make the trade for Love intending for him to be some quasi-starter who won't get 4th quarter playing time in big games.

You know who else doesn't play in the 4th quarter? The Cavs starting center (Mozgov). Mozgov is basically the key to the turn around of the Cavs this season and he sees no PT in the 4th bc Blatt likes Thompson in the 4th bc he is rested and an elite rebounder (4th in the league in offensive rebounds even though he plays ~27 mpg and isn't a starter).
Okay. Cavs didn't trade two former #1 overall picks and another first for Mozgov.
None of that has anything to do with them losing the Wiggins trade

Why the frick would LA trade their first round lotto pick for Kevin Love in a sign and trade when they could just sign Kevin Love outright and keep their lotto pick?

They did trade 2 1st rounders for him though Not that that matters anyways!
And you can't say they lost the Wiggins trade. Wiggins hasn't done shite and is on the worst team in the League. Love is a key contributor on a team that is likely to be playing in the NBA finals. Without Love, the Cavs aren't as good as they are right now.
Wiggins MIGHT be good in a few years but there is literally ZERO proof that he is going to be a superstar. Him averaging 15 pts a game on the shittiest team as the #1 or #2 scoring option is nice but it's not THAT impressive. The rookie of the year last year averaged 16\6\6 in a similar situation and no one thinks he is going to be a superstar..
And whats all this hype about his defense? Out of all the stats I can find about this kid, I can't find any that prove he is a good defender.
I'm not saying this kid isn't good, or cant be good in the future but everyone saying that he is NO DOUBT going to be a superstar and a top 5 player in the league is just dumb. Could it happen? Sure. But it hasn't and you can't pretend it has and then dismiss the fact that Kevin Love put up 26\12 on the EXACT same team Wiggins is on now.
In two years the kid could be averaging 20\5\5 and everyone would still say "OMG CAVS SO DUMB THIS DUDE IS SO GOOD I CANT BELIEVE THEY TRADED HIM FOR LOVE" when Love put up 26\12 on that same team. Like Love, until Wiggins does shite on a good team he isnt a superstar baww.
