Yep, because any GM would include a players age and salary. But shucks, again, who cares about that stuff

I know thats why I said 33. Which isnt deadly old, but as of now, he would be one of the younger lads.

Contreras produced a 1.8 WAR in under 300ABs. Molina 3.0 and us getting older
Grichuk vs Schwarber is not a push. Any neutral party would tell you that
Again with Cubs optimal lineup Zobrist in RF over Piscotty but it's close. Zobs getting older but still a 4 win player to Piscottys 3 win. When Carpenter and Piscotty are your 1/2 best hitters this discussion is laughable. Cubs answer with 2 legit MVP candidates on top of plus hitters at just about every position. And you guys are sitting here hoping Gyrko lucks into some more HRs and that you get a healthy season from jhonny fricking peralta lol
Consider the Cubs play elite defense as well , any defensive discussion is pointless

I would like to just go on record and say that I love Kyle Schwarber.

Please take into consideration the Cardss have an absolute STUD in line to take over catching duties.

A lot of people thought we would trade Kelly for jose quintana straight up a few weeks ago. Happy it didnt happen

Aledmys Diaz will end up being the Cardinals 2nd best hitter not Piscotty.
I know the Cubs play great defense and that's why so many of their players like Baez and Russell had great WARs.
That's what I'm saying about Grichuk vs Schwarber. Grihcuk will be a top 5 defensive left fielder, Schwarber will most likely be bottom 5. I was pretty much going through those positions on WAR and if you just take WAR into account (which I believe is an overrated stat but good for comparisons sake) they will be very similar players.

If that was on the table Mozeliak should have made that trade in a heartbeat.

I dont think so. We have several minors who I would rather see them part ways with.

But more interesting now since the yadi extension

Anyone think Molina will get into coaching once he is done playing?
Posted on 4/4/17 at 10:43 am to BCMCubs
No clue, his brothers did tho. His English still sucks way to bad considering how long he was over here.

Quintana addition would probably put the Cardinals in the top 5 rotations in baseball.
I don't think this one for one was actually on the table but you have to take what Quintana offers you now (#2 starter for the next 3 years) over what Kelly could offer in the future.
Just my opinion on that though.

Bubba, grichuk got sent down mid season last year. He was one of the easiest outs in all of baseball last year. I understand about the defense but when you the only weak link on the field you can just sit there and mash. Schwarber proved in the postseason and spring that his injury is behind him. You trade a power hitting LF for a good defensive LF 10x out of 10x

Right, they never said that was the full trade, but as far as names are concerned, thats what the rumor was. I was more or less stating the importance of Kelly tho. He is the only catcher we have in the minors worth noting.

Trust me I hear what you're saying. Obviously Schwarber has the better offensive ceiling because of his approach.
But I'm using projected WAR as the best way to make these comparisons. If Grichuk stays in the lineup everyday he'll hit .250 with 25-30 homers and steal 10-15 bases with top 5 defense.
If you're just using WAR, him and Schwarber will have very similar seasons.
Having said that I am skeptical of WAR because it greatly overvalues defense and base running (See Heyward, Jason). But for this exercise it was the easiest tool to use.
