Brewers hot streak coming to a cold halting stop at the hand of the best franchise to ever call Milwaukee home.

Bonds hit it out to all fields. That was one of the things amazing about him.

And you guys always go to the elite hitters for reference. They are rare.

Bonds had a Pull % pretty much the exact same as McCann. He may have hit the occasional one to left field, but the vast majority of his HRs were to center or right field.

And I'm not sure what going to elite hitters has to do with anything here, if most of the elite hitters are pull hitters then being a pull hitter is obviously not a big issue. Whether it's Pujols, Jason Giambi, or Freddie Freeman, they've all been successful as pull hitters.

It's actually extremely rare to find a good hitter who is not a pull hitter.

Touki Toussaint hits 98 mph in start with Rome Braves

quote:

When the Diamondbacks traded pitcher Touki Toussaint to the Braves for Phil Gosselin, not many were fans of the decision to essentially sell the team's 2014 first-round pick.

Much of the baseball world couldn't even grasp the move.

General manager Dave Stewart defended the trade by downplaying Toussaint's reported velocity of 96 mph, saying that the prospect had an inflated perception.

"To this point, he has pitched OK, he has pitched well," Stewart told Fox Sports. "But guys are mentioning that he throws 96 mph. He hasn't thrown 96 mph since he's been here. We haven't seen 96 once."

But what about 98 mph?

According to Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal, that 96 mph plateau was selling Toussaint short. Rosenthal reported Monday that Toussaint's fastball reached 98 mph in his Saturday start with the Class-A Rome Braves.

Toussaint threw five scoreless innings in the Braves' 1-0 win over the Charleston RiverDogs.

It's a small sample size, but Toussaint has been dominant in his two appearances with the Braves, allowing one run in 9 1/3 innings and striking out seven. He is 1-0 with a 0.96 ERA

Folty back up and Terdo sent down. This time Folty will be working out of the bullpen.

Viz and Folty have the potential to look really good at the back of the bullpen one day.

What is the best case scenario for a Maybin trade? What would be worth it to us?

Honestly it depends way too much on what we are going to do this offseason. If we are going to trade for a LF or sign one in FA this offseason then I'd say a nice B level prospect is worth moving him, because we have Mallex Smith knocking on the door and Maybin has been really bad defensively in CF.

If we aren't going hard after a LF bopper this offseason though, might as well slide Maybin to LF or RF since he's signed pretty reasonably for two years. Unless we get offered a nice deal for a good prospect (particularly a catcher).

It'll be interesting to see how they manage his innings. He threw 121.1 last year, with 18.2 of those as a reliever for the Astros. In 2013 he threw 129.1, and in 2012 he threw 152. I'm curious to see how many the let him go this year. He's at 97.2 already.

On a somewhat related note, Bannuelos has to be getting close to his innings limit. He's already thrown 11.2 more than last year. I have to imagine he'll be moved to the bullpen shortly, if not completely shut down.

Perez should be back right after the break right? I'd imagine they'd just replace Manny with Perez once he's healthy and they need to shut him down.

Innings limit is 120. Probably going to the pen after Perez gets back.
