It is Justin Upton time for sure. #Swagfield

I can't tell if Heyward has swag like the Uptons or not. They can probably pick up his slack though.

They did.

Walden is a year younger and has been better than Tommy anyhow.

Plus, I still think it's likely Walden is a piece used to get someone like Upton.

Now you free up 4 mil, a spot in the rotation for Teheran or Delgado and get another pen arm for guy who is sharply declining in every sense.

Tommy was once a great prospect. He's not that guy anymore.

And not only does this free up salary, but it also frees up a rotation spot. You know the Braves don't want to keep sending Delgado and Teheran to Gwinnett

Yeah there is. He's not the same guy now as he was 4 years ago.

Lost velocity.

I like both Delgado and Teheran. At the same time, I'm weary of regression Teheran took last season and I think Delgado could use another year in the pen.

Trust me, I understand the pros and cons of the transaction. I just don't like the return... and I can't be talked out of it. There had to have been a better return out there in my honest opinion.

Just checking something here...when you say "pen", do you mean that you think Delgado should spend another year in the bullpen?

I know. Injuries have certainly taken it's toll. That said, he's 26 with good movement on his breaking pitches. If he's finally healthy, the mph's can certainly come back. It's there... it just needs to be healthy.

There may have been a better option but it may have come at the expense of taking on another salary. I'm sure Wren didn't just pull the trigger with the first guy he talked with.

Bryce Harper will use his Super Republican powers to stretch at least a dozen singles into doubles against us next year.

Yes I do. I think he should spend next year in the pen and harness his control so he can give us more than 5 innings a start.

Make no mistake, I really like him and I think he's going to be very good. I didn't like it at all when he was almost traded to the Cubbies.

It was a salary dump that gives us around 14 million to acquire a bat.Walden takes a spot in the bullpen that we don't have to worry about. It gives us a spot for Delgado or Teheran.Hanson looked like a great pitcher when he first came to the majors.I don't think Hanson will ever be the same pitcher after losing his velocity on his fastball.

That is what the minors are for. Don't waste his service time in the bullpen.

I really don't think he can stay healthy for long though. That delivery puts so much unnecessary strain on his shoulder and back that he's always going to have problems.

Anyone who thinks this is a ba trade for the Braves is crazy. The presence of Hanson was holding back the progression of Delgado and Teheran on the roster. We cleared $4 million in salary which will allow the Braves to acquire a solid left fielder. I like Tommy and wish him the best, but this was Jurrjens 2.0, and this time the Braves aren't left holding the bag.
