Our actual savior is Kevin Maitan hopefully, but yeah I'm excited for the draft over the next few days.

My body is ready!!

I think we go with Ian Anderson at 3 to save money for the next picks.

I'd be happy with a lot of different guys. It's a win-win situation to be in.

I have fallen in love with Dunn in the past week. Got to watch him in the regional, and I was pretty impressed, and since then Ive read a lot about him, and he's my #1 player in the draft.

Positives:
He's only 20, so there is plenty of time for development. He has a fastball that can reach up to 98, and he has been able to keep the fastball in the mid-90s deep into the game. I would consider it a plus pitch, especially with the movement that he has. His second pitch is his slider, and he already throws it very well. With a little work, I think it could be considered a plus pitch as well. He has a very clean, and simple delivery that he has no problem repeating. He also has limited mileage on his arm being a reliver for most of his college career. Finally, he is very athletic. That helps with him repeating his delivery first and foremost, but I also think it will help him in a lot more areas of the game.

Negatives:
His third pitch isnt quite there yet. I think his changeup will end up being his third pitch. He hasnt been throwing it too long. He hasnt needed it. Its showing flashes, but it needs time before Id consider it a above average major league pitch. He also throws a curve, but I think it will end up being more of a show me pitch once he climbs the ladder. Ill add his size to the negative side, although I personally dont have a problem with him being 6'2. He's reportedly around 185, so his body isnt quite maxed out. I think he can put on a few pounds of muscle and it not be a problem. Lastly, you can put his inexperience as a starter as a negative. He's only had 6 starts to his name I believe, but once again, I dont see that as a big negative because he's been dominant against very good competition.

I dont quite know who I would compare him too. I know some might throw out Dillon Tate, since he is fresh in people's mind, but I think his raw stuff is better than Tate's. The one comparison that comes to mind most is Roy Oswalt. He is a little larger than Oswalt, and has a cleaner delivery, but stuff wise, I think they compare.

In a draft where there is no clear #1, and a lot of the top prospects have major question marks, Id have no problems taking this guy at the top.

Im honestly thinking thats the best approach. If you add up our top 3 picks, we have somewhere close to 9.7 million. We could grab him for around 3.5, and still have over 6 mil for the next two picks. I think it boils down to if we can reach an agreement with a bonus guy to make himself slip to 40. Rutherford wants a ton of cash, and if we can get him to sign for around 3.5-4.0 mil, then I think he would be our guy. Then at the other pick, we can go after Benson, who is looking for Daz money, but I think we could get him for a little less. We would have to go college guys with our next couple of picks to save money, but it would be a great draft.

Fairly certain that whoever we draft will sign below slot. Just no one this year that can demand that kind of money.

Cool with Lewis or Ray.

Pint or Groome would be awesome too for the upside.

No Puk, no Senzel, and I'm good.

Obviously haven't seen him in person but I am not a fan of taking someone who needs so much to go right to stick as a starter.

Undersized, minuscule sample size of success as a starter, extremely questionable 3rd and 4th pitches, fastball command needs work.

If everything clicks maybe he becomes something special but that is a lot that has to go right.

You really have to trust your minor league pitching staff to take a kid like this.

I love the idea of having a lot of high round draft picks.

I do NOT understand the idea of guys like Teheran, Vizcaino or even Inciarte being on the trade block.

I just feel like those are the types of players - solid and affordable, that you build around.

They may not by Cy Young or MVP caliber players, but you need a roster full of solid players in order to compete day in and day out in MLB.

The braves would be foolish not to trade Teheran. His fastball velocity continues to drop and his fip is over four. I would be shocked if the Braves draft anyone other than Kyle Lewis.

Seems like a depth draft to me after doing some entry-level research on BA and Pipeline.

And watching the kid from Mercer, wow that swing plus K rate, I'd stay so far away.

Swing is a tad long. Not overly concerned with it. It can be corrected, we aren't talking about Cody Johnson here. K rate once again is below the college average. If he strikes out 18% of the time in the majors, a whole 2 percent more than his college rate, he is league average

It's honestly not a very good draft and really no one this year separated themselves at the top of the draft. Groome is considered the best but character concerns have really scared teams away.

I disagree with the assessment that its not a good draft because it lacks the star power. It is a deep draft. I like this draft. We are going to get quality players.
