Yep. Really wish we hadn't signed Markakis or that we would actually move him. Would feel pretty comfortable signing Justin if we had an extra 11 mil to spend.

I'm with ya. I like Markakis and think he can be a decent asset and be worth his contract, but any extra money at this point is valuable. I like the direction the front office decided to go in getting on base guys, but you still need power in the middle of the lineup to drive these guys in once they reach base. That's what the team is lacking. Maybin and Markakis at the top of the lineup with Freeman and a couple power bats behind him would be perfect.

Agreed. And actually, Justin Upton in LF and Uribe at 3B would pretty much be what we need in the short term IMO. Ideally you'd want a 20 HR guy at 3B behind a 25-30 HR guy like Upton in LF, but Uribe's 15 HR power and solid defense would be a solid stopgap.

I think we just need to get 3 guys with around 20 HR pop between 1B, 3B, LF, and RF (or C I suppose, but highly rare to get) given we are pretty much set with speed and/or defense guys at CF, 2B, and SS for the next 6-7 years. If we could do that and keep Markakis that would be fine, but it's just so much easier to get that level of pop in LF and RF.

We're on the same page for sure. These next couple offseasons will interesting just because of the organization flexibility. Just can't be afraid to move the prospects and even the younger major leaguers if necessary. I hope that's why they've gained so much depth.

I would like to trade for Lucroy and sign one of the big 3 outfielders. Seems like it will need to be a Uribe or Freese type at 3rd until we find a true long term solution.

I have gone back and forth between Heyward and Upton but I think at this point I would feel more comfortable giving Heyward the money. Upton seems to fit better but I think Heyward's the better player. If Markakis wasn't in the picture signing Heyward would be a no brainier imo. As things stand Cespedes might be the cheapest and best alternative.

U don't deal young pitchers, with top2 stuff, who are cost controlled, when ur retooling. Miller could be your Ace by next Spring, he has that kind of stuff.

Absolutely,

One of the few bright spots the braves have right now and heyward was certainly not worth it.

Takes 5 fricking min to overturn the out call to say he's safe? It should have to be CLEAR that he was safe, and if it was then it wouldn't take 5 min. That's complete bullshite.

Big Wisler fan. Barring injury he is going to be a mainstay in the middle of our rotation for the next 6+ years.

Not a true TOR arm but he will help the Braves win a lot of games.

Touki follows up his no hit performance with an absolute stinker.

3.1 IP, 10 H (4 HR), 9 ER, 3 BB, 2 SO on 80 pitches (40 strikes)

Was apparently very hot and humid in Asheville today but he obviously needs to get much more consistent with his command.

Yep, hopefully he slides in as the closer after JJ gets traded (and I'm sure he will).

And agreed on Wisler, he should make a very solid #2/#3 starter type for us the next 6 years.
