MLB released their midseason top 30 last night. The absolute depth of this system just astounds me. And the scary part is it could get better at the deadline with various deals.

2) Ozzie Albies 2B
3) Sean Newcombe
4) Kolby Allard
5) Ian Anderson
6) Mike Soroka
7) Joey Wentz
8) Kevin Maitan
9) Travis Demeritte
10) Touki Toussaint
11) Max Fried
12) Kyle Mueller
13) Austin Riley
14) Tyrell Jenkins
15) Lucas Sims
16) Rio Ruiz
17) Chris Ellis
18) Ronald Acuna
19) Dustin Peterson
20) Max Povse
21) Rob Whalen
22) John Gant
23) Manny Banuelos
24) Zach Bird
25) Braxton Davidson
26) Ricardo Sanchez

As others have mentioned,

That list needs Weigel, Pache, and Cruz. At this point, I would probably drop Bird, Herbert, and Dykstra.

I like Herbert's potential but I expected literally nothing from him this year after his injury.

Demeritte needs to be fringe top 15.

Also, is Blair not eligible for this list anymore? I know he struggled in his call-up but the dude has a ton of potential still

Edit: Just saw the cut off

Blair has 50.2

Can he play OF? Or will that be Maitan?

Yeah, none of those three belong on there really (particularly with guys like Pache and Cruz not even on the list), and Jenkins is way too high. But that is a surprisingly good list for MLB, they typically make pretty awful top 30 lists.

Absolute best case for Kevin is 2019. More realistic time line is 21. We have time to let things unfold and figure things out from there.

So I would rather not wade through 800+ comments in the trade deadline thread.

What's the thoughts on the Harrell trade?

Pretty great move for us. Traded two pitchers who were dumped by other teams 2 months ago for sucking it up in the minors in exchange for a power bat with potential, something we don't have a lot of in the minors.

Have they announced the corresponding roster moves? Who do you think they call up to take the two spots?

Called up Matt Marksberry and Jose Ramirez earlier today, both bullpen guys. Blair has put together 2 straight strong starts in AAA, maybe if he gets one more we'll see him back up before September call-ups. Also John Gant is set to begin rehab starts soon, so hopefully he's back up sooner than later.

Kelly should start Sunday in Harrel's place.

After a very promising start to his season, Wisler has been poo. Maybe give him a start or two at Gwinnett and bring Blair back up, who's had some good pitching lines the last week or two.

John Coppolella mentioned Matt Wieters and Wilson Ramos as free agent targets.

Wisler has just got to figure out a way to make it through the first two innings of ballgames.

Far too often you see him give up 3+ runs in the beginning and then settle in to retire 10/11 like tonight.

Alas, being down 5-0 the damage is already done. If he can figure it out he will be a top end guy.

Wisler will never be a top half starter in a good rotation. He just doesn't have the stuff. Can he be serviceable? Absolutely. He has the potential to be a strong 3 or 4 but right now he's just making way too many mistakes and leaving balls over the plate.

Time in Gwinnett will serve him well.
