In any case, the more sensible move for the Braves would be to trade closer Arodys Vizcaino, who over the past two seasons has a 1.86 ERA, 78 strikeouts and 26 walks in 63 innings. Vizcaino, too, can help the team open its new park, but a closer is a luxury for a club with the second-worst record in the majors.
Vizcaino would not bring the Braves the same return that Ken Giles did for the Phillies last off-season. His walk rate is above league-average. He is under club control for three additional seasons. He underwent Tommy John surgery in 2012, and served an 80-game suspension for performance-enhancing drugs at the start of '15.
Ken Rosenthal suggests the Braves should look to deal Vizcaino
I agree with him. I don't expect this team to contend for much until 2018 so why hold onto the most volatile commodity in baseball, a closer, when you could possibly get something for him? Especially with Vizcaino's history of TJ and PED use. If they can get a good return, I hope they do it.
Rosenthal says he still thinks it would be surprising if the Braves keep Teheran, but a rival executive has confirmed that the Braves are reluctant to move Teheran, which I think is the right move given his extremely team-friendly deal.

I always think trading from the pen is a good strategy. Those guys are so flaky and streaky. Get good position player and SP value from them while you can.

Yep. Unless you're expecting to contend and make a postseason run, trade those guys when possible.

Considering the prospect hauls teams have received for closers in recent years, trading Viz seems like a no-brainer. Obviously he's not Kimbrel, but we should still get some pretty nice pieces for him.

What's the deal with Garcia? Is he injured or something?

Left ankle soreness.
Braves placed Mallex on the 15-day DL and he is expected to miss 8-10 weeks of action.

Will this team ever lose again?

The only thing that might change that is the fact the Yanks probably move Chapman and possibly Miller. Might be a better idea to move him in the offseason if that is happening.

6 wins in a row. Hire Snitker. Extend Bud Norris contract. Play Chase d'Arnaud every day. We're streaking boys!

There'll still be teams out there willing to move for Vizcaino to pitch their 8th as a set-up man. And it's also likely that we'll move Vizcaino before the Yanks make a move
