But, I don't wanna go to bed..there are more "truths" to be told regarding the ownership groups of the Astros and cubs...lol
Sorry if you don't like it ! Fans of these two miserable clubs should abandon all hope and abandon the clubs, just like the clubs have forsaken them.

quote:Where to start. Our TV contract is piss poor and we are not making money off of it nor milking it. If you haven't heard CSNH is broke and went into bankruptcy. Astros have not been paid by them in months and 60% of city of Houston can't watch the games. 2nd, our fans aren't coming back like sheep, they left long ago. Tell you don't know shite about our franchise because we average 10,000-12,000 fans a game in the seats. Between the club we have had on the field the past 3 seasons and the lack of a TV deal fans have jumped off the wagon. Support is at an all time low. You think Jim Crane actually wants to own a franchise where he can't get paid from a TV deal and only draws 10-12K a game. Get real. Now the Cubs on the other hand, still are a draw because they are the Cubs and have Wrigley Field.
WHERE oh WHERE is that supposed great farm system we've heard about on here...for what, like the past 4-5 yrs. ?
I think we're just seeing the astros and cubs, continuing to milk the MLB tv contract AND their gullible fans.IF, you still get the money and the fans keep coming back like sheep...where's the real incentive to do better ???????

Who said this? Pretty understood how shite Drayton left this farm system and it wasn't really worth a shite until maybe 2 years ago. We've steadily been climbing into a respectable farm system and it'll take time. People look at the Astros sucking for the last 4 years and thinking all those years count as rebuilding? No we were stuck in limbo for about the first two years while we sucked enough to get high picks and traded assets for prospects. We've really only been rebuilt for about 2 years. Baseball takes the longest of almost any sport to develop a young player into a servicable pro (unless they're a once in a while talent), which is why we still have a few years before we''re even talking about contending for a wild card. Just buckle up and get ready for the ride.
And stop complaining about prices. Nobody is forcing you to buy tickets. If you don't want to watch the "shite show"...THEN DONT. but don't come back years later when/if the team starts winning.

Out of all the guys on the current 25 man roster who do you see being here in 4 years? For me off the top of my head, Altuve, Cosart, Springer, and Castro.
Springer, Fowler (if he's re-signed), Altuve and Fields possibly.

Villar is what..22? He's got all the tools to stick around for a while.
Except he won't ever hit .250 and plays below mediocre defense.
Granted he's got some pop, walks a little bit and good speed, but you can't have a SS be mediocre at Short and have his shortcomings at the plate.

Why bring them up now?
Singleton should be a June call-up; Folty and potentially Appel in September; Those guys should be on the 2015 Opening Day roster with Correa in June. These guys wouldn't make a fricking difference right now.

If his current K/9 percentage keeps up, yeh. But if it's what he showed in 2013, nah.

Talks of moving him to the pen when all of our arms are finally called up.

I like Jeff Luhnow and I think he's done an excellent job so far.
He's just overly cautious with our stud prospects because he doesn't want to have to send them back down if he calls them up and they struggle.
When he calls up a guy, he wants him to stay. And that's the best thing for the team and the fans.
But I don't get why we don't do like other franchises and give these guys a cup of coffee in the show just to get a taste of what they need to work on, and then send em back down. You burn an option year but you also put them on the fast track

I hear you. The Astros are in the 4th or Fifth largest city in America and still can't draw 25k fans for a game. Wtf?
Draw a thirty mile radius around Baton Rouge. You probably have a population close to 750k people. Guess what. There isn't a radio station in the area that broadcasts Astros games.
This organization just doesn't give a frick anymore. Do you ever witness this with the Atlanta Braves or St.Louis Cardinals ?
How fricking long does it take to build a .500 team? Damn !!!

You do realize that from how terrible we were it takes longer than 1-2 years to get back to being decent. You can't get a 1 draft pick and expect them to be in the major leagues in 1 year. Baseball takes time to develop talent. Rebuilding takes 3-5 years to start seeing results
Posted on 4/20/14 at 12:41 pm to Cosmo
I think the Astros are a bit too statistically oriented. They won't sign player X because they valued him at 4/$40 and he signed for 4/$45. At some point, you have to get real major leaguers out there and pay a little more for them. They remind me of a team in the NFL draft that keeps trading back because they got a bit of "value" on each trade, and ends up with 10 6th and 7th round picks and 3 3s for next year. (and I know they have top MLB draft picks, but they keep dumping their ML team to get them, and ML draft picks aren't nearly as valuable as NFL picks).
