Nadal's reward for blowing his group away? Joker in the semis and likely Fed in the finals.

This format is pretty dumb. Radwanska went 1-2 in group play and won the title.

Why's the format dumb?

Federer won his group and plays 2nd from the other side.
Nadal won his group and plays 2nd from the other side (Joker).

You don't think Joker expected to play either Fed in the semis and Joker in the finals or vice versa?

I like the format, to be honest. Cream will always rise to the top at this tournament and in this format, which is why Novak is the 3 time champ. Nadal will give him absolute fits though.

What other tourney allows you to lose twice and win the title? At the same time, you can go 3-0 in group play and then be out after 1 loss. 2 of the final 4 group-play matches were meaningless.

Not to mention, one side of the bracket gets a day off while whoever comes through from the Murray side will have to play Fri/Sat/Sun in order to win it.

I'm not a fan of any particular player, so my opinion has nothing to do with bias.

Looks like they are tied midway through the first set, but I fully expect a soft tank from Murray so he can get a few days off and/or prepare on clay for Davis Cup. He didn't even really want to play this tournament.

Not watching, so I don't know if it was a tank, but your timing was spot on.

That final game was pretty wild. If Murray had made it 5-5 there, I think he would have won the match.

I'm seeing Joker in the -600 range vs. in-form Nadal. Wow.

Yeah, it was pretty clinical. I know Rafa usually likes to rest a bit during the fall/winter season, but this will keep him sharp for next year and helps the ranking so he doesn't have to see Novak until at least the semis. I'm kind of rooting for Stan in the next one since I'm getting tired of Fed/Novak.

Djokovic wins in straights, 3 and 4. Really solid effort by djokovic today, while fed was decent.

I haven't been following the Davis Cup that closely, but I can't figure this out. Before the final, Britain was -320. Murray won, which was expected. Goffin won (expected). Now Britain is somehow -750.

Is it because...
A) Edmund was up 2 sets to love and now appears to have a much better chance to win his next match?
B) Something changed with the lineups
C) Something else?

(A) has to be it, unless there is an injury. Bemelmans looked pretty good against Murray to me, so that seems like way too much line movement solely because Edmund played well. I don't think anything would have changed with doubles to move the odds like that.

This is such a weird matchup with two top guys and two ranked around 100.

Murray/Goffin match was an epic struggle every point. If it had gone four or five sets, somebody would have dropped. Murray fought like a wild man to close it out in three. The second set point and match point were fantastic (short GIFs don't do them justice). Cool way to end the season. First GB Davis Cup in 79 years.

Nice. I'll have to look for a replay somewhere. Goffin doesn't get much respect in the betting market, but dude is solid. I like his game.
