I Marshal at the Zurich every year and while no player likes movement when they are ready to play, if they are just leaving the tee, the guy didn't need to give a special speech to the "patrons" on how to behave for Tiger. That is how you are expected to treat all the pros when they are getting ready to play the shot, and the crowds at Augusta are typically some of the best behaved. Seems like the marshal was just another Tiger lover who should have just done his job of finding the ball and keeping people from touching it. Once the player arrives he can clear the path and area necessary without his little TigerTalk.

First off, I don't see anything in the OP about Woods actually whining about anything.

Second, it may have been on 15, but Spieth backed away from his tee shot because he heard movement behind him. His caddy and the marshal yelled into the stands for people to be still.

Where's the "Spieth is whiny" thread?

Well, in one instance you're talking about someone on the frickin tee about to hit the shot, and in another your talking about a try-hard big headed marshall giving people a speech while the player is 300 yards away.

But surely you see the difference.

Seems like it would be a common thing for the marshalls to remind the fans to remain quiet and still.

I guess the original poster would rather that the Marshall deliver the speech while Tiger Woods is standing right there rather then in advance of him arriving. Some of you people will find anything to complain about.

I do see the difference.

Tee shots don't count more or less than approaches, chips, putts, etc. This whole thing has more of a feel of "I hate Tiger" than it does anything.

I personally find it sad that someone went to the Masters, spent tons of cash, watched a great tournament, and this is what they walked away with.

I've been to several PGA events in two different states. I've never heard a marshall lecture the crowd while the player was 300 yards away. It has a feel of "Tiger Woods is special and you should obey his every command".

In all honesty, I imagine the zoo that follows tiger could possibly require a bit more coaching and herding than other players.

When Tiger was in his glory years, he was infamous for brow beating marshals & the other worker bees working a tourney. Chances are this marshal had his arse chewed out before by Tiger & was simply reacting defensively ahead of time.

My son never heard me utter a word about the thought going through my head. I think I just hurt a lot of angry Woods fans with my story and for that, I apologize.
