With Colby on the DL and heading in for surgery, it's almost a no brainer that the Rangers will make a move for starting pitching. What are some of your trade scenarios? Is there any prospect untouchable other than Profar? Rangers' fans, who do you want? What would you give up?

Prospects- Grimm, Martin, Perez, Olt, Scheppers, Odor, etc..

Rangers get Soto

Starters - Lee, M Garza, R Dempster, etc..

Hamels is off the trading block (7/25)
Grienke is in LAA
J Johnson talks have slowed or ended
Broxton gone

Trade for a setup man?

I would say Olt would be another untouchable, but I don't think any trade gets done without including Profar or Olt in it.

I think you should switch Lee for Hamels or at least add Lee on that list. Hamels likely signs long-term with Philly and I'm glad. Seems like he is pitching for a contract this year. Dempster is too old for my liking unless we can get him without giving up any of the big names.

Main thing is the Rangers HAVE to trade for a pitcher. Colby is out, it's unsure if they put Feliz back in the rotation or put him in the bullpen the rest of the year, you never know with Oswalt at this point and you won't get many starts from Feldman like last night.

I don't think Martin Perez will ever make it, would MUCH rather trade him than Olt or some of the others. Profar is untouchable.

I would hope that if they give up Olt or Profar it would be for someone under a multi-year contract.

In fact, I really hope they don't make a trade for someone like Lee two years ago where the starter leaves after 3 months. It would suck if they gave up a couple prospects for Hamels only to see Hamels sign a long term deal with the Phillies next year.

I'm with you, but Profar is staying. So everyone is going to be gunning for Olt. I'd be happy if our suitors settled for a L Martin and Perez package. What about trading for J Upton? A replacement for Josh.

J Johnson's got an extra year. What would you be willing to give up?

If Colby hadn't gotten hurt, I wouldn't have minded that. I would have still like to have seen the Rangers go deeper in their pocketbook to try to hold onto Josh as well.

However, the Rangers need pitching a lot worse now than looking for a back-up plan to Hamilton

For Josh Johnson? Nothing.

Have you looked at his stats this year in the National League?

The Rangers have long been enamored with Josh Johnson. I think he would be their number one target.

I would love to see them acquire Josh Willingham from the Twins. I think he would fit in well and provide righty pop from 1B. Not sure the Twins would deal him.

When the window is open, you have to seize it. I think the Rangers are right to be reluctant to trade Olt, but he shouldn't be "untouchable". The window is open right now, but you need a #1 starter. You must make the deal.

But I'd say no on Lee because you don't want the term on that deal. Hamels or Greinke.

Eh...I think he would be worth it. Getting Maddux to coach him, I think he could get back to where he was pre injury. But I wouldn't give up Profar or Olt.

Hamels

Maybe...but with the changes in the rules on compensation if he signs with someone else, it is too risky for me.

Too much of a head case. Not a big game pitcher.

I read that it would take Olt + Minor League pitcher (per Evan Grant), and I think that's too much.

Who is this Profar guy? Is he the same guy as Probar that Quidam always raves about?

Yep.

But if Olt and Profar aren't on the table, I'd do it.

Probar is a little bigger and has more of a swing and miss component.
