Yeah yhis story seems to be one that's grown because of his fame. I'm sure Terry was being humble in that interview or maybe Phil was slightly better at that time. But do some of these dynasty idiots really think he was better than a HOF multiple SB winning qb?

He threw 12 TDs and 34 ints over two years.

Of course they do. They have completely bought into that myth

I found his college stats and posted them on the rant a while back in one of the thousands of threads proclaiming him to be a great college QB. The facts are he was fricking horrible.

To be fair, Terry was playing behind a much better O-line.

Here is what I posted on the rant a while back:

quote:

quote:

It's a good story now, Phil being this "great" quarterback. Sometimes stories like that get embellished over the years, to make the story better. From hearing from those that were there though, he was a fantastic quarterback.

"fantastic"

The dude sucked. This is a classic case of revisionist history because, 40 plus years later, he is now on a TV show.

Here were his stats at La Tech:

quote:

Over three seasons, from 1965-67 -- his final two as starter -- Robertson was 179-for-411 passing for 2,237 yards and 12 TDs, but threw 34 interceptions for Tech (which was 8-20 in that span).

So he completed less than 44% of his passes, threw almost 3 times as many INTs as TDs, and had a 8-20 record. But yeah, he was a great one

There is video of him playing against Bama that some people have pointed to as some sort of evidence of how good he was. That game was played in 1966. His stats from that year?

90 of 205, (43.9%), for 1,011 yards, 4 TDs, and 18 INTs, while leading Tech to a 1-9 record. Nothing good in any of that

In his 2 years as a starter, Tech averaged 11.9 points a game

To compare those stats to the times back then, Terry Bradshaw's career numbers were:

424 of 807, (52.5%), for 6,589 yards and 39 TDs and 42 INTs.

As the full-time starter in 1968 and 1969, Bradshaw was 312 of 587, (53.2%), for 5,204 yards, 36 TDs and 29 INTs, while leading Tech to a 17-4 record.

Tech also averaged 31.8 points a game, an improvement of almost 20 points over that Phil Robertson led offense from the 2 previous seasons

Kind of how people like to say Cooper Manning was the most talented one.

Who said Phil was a great college QB? Who said Terry was a great College QB. Who said Terry was a great PRO QB. Terry Bradshaw PRO stats were shite just like he was as a QB, he did play for a good team though.

I dunno. We all just kind of assume a hall of game QB who with multiple super bowl rings was a pretty good player.

51% COMP/212 TD/ 210 INT over a 14 year carrer is what Phil could get too.

Some of the idiots even tell a story where Phil was supposedly trying out for an NFL team but saw some ducks flying over the field so he left the workout

I'm mean its not like he played when the rules and offenses were very different or anything. The ignorance of some people of things before they were born is staggering.

Phil would have been better, he just couldn't bring himself to throw to the Tight End.....
