ESPN’s business model is collapsing and their viewers are bailing on the network with alarming speed, but even I was shocked by just how bad it has gotten when I checked out ratings over the past couple of weeks. ESPN’s ratings have tanked, even taking into account the usual summer doldrums.

I mean, this is an extreme down season for sports. Not exactly bringing their best content right now

They are showing the world championships of cornhole along with a lot of ESports. What the frick is the writer of that column expecting?

The most active thing besides mid-season MLB is fourth tier events like the Gold Cup and FINA World Championships which they don't even have the rights to.

The last time I checked Sportscenter out was after the Rangers destroyed the Yankees like 8-2 or something and I was waiting for LSU and Florida to start.

All they talked about was Judge going deep and ended the segment by saying, "oh but Texas won 8-2, but who cares! Judge went deep yet again!".

One does not simply roll up on the 'tubbies in July and expect not to get their clock cleaned

All I see when I check that crappy network is NBA talk. Goddamn, just make the NBA 12 months a year!

they pander to bigger markets, kind of force their agenda, have begun creating stories, repeat certain stories over and over again, and say things on air to get a reaction out of people. i'm surprised it took this long for them to collapse.

They have went the way of mainstream news. They are trying to dictate what people think instead of just letting the news tell itself.

Pretty much how ESPN turned me off. Felt like the local broadcasts of the Lakers, Knicks, Yankees, Mets, red Sox, etc.. i know my team at best was a footnote and no matter how much they win, they'll always be a footnote. The Knicks and Yankees and Lakers could be complete dumpster fires for 20 years, and they'll still get more press and nationally televised games than any other team out there.

Then they became very gossip-y and political

Del Mar is where the turf meets the surf man

it's where the country goes on vacation

how the frick you go diss bing cosby like that man

it is literally a race track, on the beach. nothing really like it. And yeah from July to the end of August the best of the best run there and Saratoga.

Bing Cosby actually has a grade 1 stakes race named after him there it's a sprint for older horses

which is actually the headliner for next saturday (Majestic prince will win it)

This is why I rarely watch anymore. I don't need or want boring NBA 12 months a year.

Their collective hard on for Lonzo Ball and Judge is ridiculous.
