The issue isn't really with the game, it's with all the other crap that comes along with it...

All the other crap that comes along with it has been in cold weather conditions before, and all Super Bowls went off without a hitch, except for one in Atlanta and one in Arlington. Ironic.

because the NFL clearly doesn't mind playing in garbage weather once in a while. Deal with it.

Well that wasn't your original answer now was it?

And there's nothing to deal with. I'm not going. Just asking the question. Sorry it seems to bother you.

Currently there are 0 players holding out for warmer weather. Obviously they are content playing this game in New Jersey. If not, why did they work so hard to qualify for the game?

Was this the player's idea?

Serious question I really don't know. I can't imagine it was.

Damn dude, I sure hope you're on the NFL payroll for the crazy amount of defending you do for them around here.

then you have to ask the questions, why spend around a billion dollars for a stadium and not have the spectator seats covered (at a minimum)?

Because the Jets and Giants were cheap as frick.

It's gonna be funny when the teams of all the posters saying " it's football!! It's meant to be played in bad weather" end up playing a Super Bowl in bad weather and then constantly complain that's why their team lost...

Everyone needs to get over it. 10 days is so far away.

Also, it should be played wherever in America, not just warm climates.

29 degrees with scattered flurries would hardly qualify as extreme enough to warrant a move as drastic as moving the super bowl.

Yeah, no shite. Supposedly, there's a chance that NYC gets a repeat of the same type of strong storm like the last one, thus it would get pushed.

It doesn't even have to be a horrible event in NYC the day of the event. If something hits there, or even in the region a few days before the whole transportation system, including airports, gets fcked up.

I can't tell you how many people I talked to in N.O. last year that said it should be in N.O. every 3 or 4 years. The weather was amazing and the layout of the city is just so great for the event.
Tons of party places, restaurants, hotels, event centers, and the dome all within walking distance.

it all goes back to logistics--you close the NYC area airports and the Amtrak Northeast Corridor a week from today and you'll have a major clusterf*** on your hands...

if snowfall continues through Saturday...ah, the chaos!!!

I'm pissed about this and I'm a Broncos fan. If Denver, or Saints for that matter (teams I care about) I would likely root for chaos.

However, the entire NYC Super Bowl has always been absurd from the beginning.

Playoff games should be in the elements; home teams should be given that advantage.

Super Bowls should not be impacted by weather, or at a minimum, you should mitigate the chances as much as possible. They should be in domes or outdoor stadiums in San Diego, LA (future) and Florida. That's it. If it rains in San Diego, whatever. shite happens. Placing it in NYC or Chicago, or Denver is plain stupid for both the game and the experience.

Now national shows like GMA are talking about the possibility of moving the Super Bowl to a Monday or a Friday? Just absurd.

It is not rumors at all. The NFL exec in charge of putting on the game has been all over ESPN describing in explicit detail the various plans they have worked out in case the weather is too bad. And it is not just the cold: a storm could cause girdlock at the airports, roads shut down, and corporate America, for whom the game is really played, would be miserable sitting for 5 hrs in a blizzard. But it is most definitely not rumors. Go to the league website itself. Contingency plans A B & C are out lined there.

As for the players not caring. Player after player has commented differently. They want the biggest game of the season to be played where their talents will be the definitive reason a game is lost or won. Do you honestly think any of today's players want to play this game in cold miserable weather when it could be played in any dome or warm weather area?? It went to NY because of the money the league stands to gain for putting it on there.Period. And who reaps all this money from the city? The owners.
