Yeah... STM QB loves zone D... Gives him time to analyze and pick you apart using various routes: short, timing, go, post, screens, etc... They also mix in the run... So J-Roc & crew should have fun out there...

Exactly with the way they like to bubble screen u to death u have to play tight man and send more than they can block.

Brandon Bergeron never saw a team with this speed or athleticism since Karr

really? according to the ken ramsey strength factor page STM played the second toughest schedule in 4A with a 10.10 rating. St Aug played the 20th ranked schedule. Who do you think is more battle tested this year?

quote:

And with all those numbers still lost

unfortunately bergeron doesnt play defense and STM gave up 22pts to Evangel in the 4th qtr

Also they sat it a lot of zone. We don't believe in zone.

Wait, you just said you think St Aug will do what Evangel did and now you are saying St Aug will not do what Evangel did? Which is it?

Frankly if Bergeron gets protection it doesnt matter what defense you play, he has seen it all before and he will find open receivers. Get pressure on him and things dramatically even out. However STM has seen teams try to blitz and play man behind it all year and they have feasted on it.

Anyway here are some stats for you:
quote:

Rushing Stats
# Athlete Name Car Yds Avg Y/G Long TD

Season Totals 392 1744 4.45 158.5 73 30

1 R. Cahee (Jr) 12 50 4.17 5.0 22

14 B. Bergeron (Sr) 65 148 2.28 13.5 30 5

25 J. Suire (Jr) 85 427 5.02 42.7 50 2

31 M. Gumpert (Sr) 39 167 4.28 15.2 14 3

49 T. Chenevert (Sr) 26 228 8.77 20.7 73 3

6 G. Dozier (Sr) 134 735 5.49 66.8 52 17

A lot of fans think STM is some pass happy team but they run the ball on average 36 times a game. The throw it 27 times per game on average. Dozier is the main RB but Suire has come on in the second half of the season as a change of pace back. Bergeron has 5 rushing TDs to go with his 32 passing TDs. The 4.5 ypc number is very misleading because STM has blown so many teams out a lot of their rushing stats are dragged down by 2nd team offense running dive plays into the line.

Passing stats:
14 B. Bergeron (Sr)
209 comps
298 attmpts
.701 comp %
3042 yards
276.5 yppg
32 TDs
10 INT
92 long
125 passer rating

Kelley set the school receiving yards record with 1201 yds

Yep... We already know STM mix in the run with the help of a good passing scheme

Tl; did read lol. What I meant by that evangel blitzed which is similar but to their detriment they played zone behind it. We will play man behind our blitz. Idk why the hell they would run zone blitzes against a team that love to run bubbles n screens. U guys have not played the best team in the state and gave them hell. That one game against what I call Rummel the Bama of hs football except they choke everytime nullifies every team y'all have played. We are battle tested. Also EA brought 6 we will bring more than u can block and trust our corner and safety play. Not one team from what I saw has brought more than u can block.

If Aug loses, this might be their downfall. They have to tackle when STM completes short passes. The receiver for Holy Cross killed them in yards after catch.

Evangel showed a very limited ability/willingness to adjust their defense

This year STM has routinely seen teams blitz 7/8
We have also seen teams blitz 9

early in the year, STM saw a lot of blitzing and the young OL struggled. So Bergeron threw 6 INTS in 5 games. As the season progressed the OL has gelled and they are much better at getting Bergeron protection, especially pressure up the middle. So Bergeron has thrown 4 INTS in the last 6 games.

The biggest difference between this STM offense and 2010 STM offense is this team has one system keyed by one QB so there is consistency and continuity to what they are doing. You may get pressure on Bergeron, you may make him miss some throws but they will keep chipping away at you until your secondary makes a mistake. Or they will happily run the football and throw bubble/RB screens and wear your DL and LBs out chasing plays from behind.

STM has lived on big passing plays this season and the main concern I have with Aug is the ability your DBs have of recovering and stopping big plays. That forces STM to grind a bit on offense and that has not always been their strength. However they have shown the ability to grind the running game on their opponents with the lead.

On defense, I think STM sells out and stops Fournette or they dont win. I really dont think your QB has the ability to beat STM throwing the football and I seriously doubt Crutch wants him to try. Your QB may throw a few balls to try to keep STM honest but expect to see STM loading the box and crowding the LOS. If your QB beats them throwing then so be it. They will not let your strength beat them, that is what STM tries to do on defense. Take away your strength and make you find another way to win.

This is why STM is so successful in the regular season and has failed to make the Dome in 6 tries. They usually reach a point in the playoffs where the opponents strength cant be stopped or the opponent finds another way to beat them. They just cant quite get over that hump.

AUG/HC Highlights

HC had 3 big plays that killed us because we gave their O too many chances after killing ourselves with penalties that negated scoring drives, plus we gave up another TD off a muff punt... Exactly how it's been in all 3 losses... CC made some changes after the EJ loss, including benching some SR starters, and adjusting the o-line...

That's what separates us from other teams not that we blitz everybody it's that our secondary can cover. Don't let the qb surprise you though he can sling it a little. I know y'all play that 4-2-5 , 3-3-5, hybrid Cover 2 and 3 with a tiny bit of man mixed in. Just watch out for #8.

95 what did he changed I failed to pick that up.?

Remember when he switched #72 Theron to D?

He also swapped centers from Jacob to Peyton... Big Joseph Paul didn't deliver on DL, so he was moved back to OT...

On D, #20, #24, & #42 were all benched... #44 ILB also have limited duties... They played terrible in all 3 losses...

supa i hadnt really seen any games this year just watched highlights on hudle and those vids. who are their top playmakers on defense? I know KJ is good. Glad to see he goes both ways, which almost never happens @ STM. Something I dont agree with. But anyway I thought our LBs were our weakest position on defense? Not worried about that? I just dont see teams stopping Bergeron. Hes in the zone right now.
