ok, list em. cause I can go on with HS guys who made it to their 2nd contracts, if we wanna use that as a gauge of "long term success". I'm pretty sure the percentage is in line with guys who went to college, if not better.

way back when (during the open era), chad ford did a breakdown and the league was dominated by 0/1 year CBB players

Didn't he basically have chronic injuries by his 3rd or 4th year in the league? What makes you think those injuries would of happened in college as well.

why wouldn't they? didn't he have 1 big injury and then spinoff injuries?

why does this phenomenon have to only occur with college coaches?

Because NBA coaches are paid to win, not build you up in your maturation process.

how is college going to help with most of that?

Spend your per diem early and you're not eating after that.

it would be, almost certainly, 2 years of inferior coaching in a completely different kind of game

MLB baseball is different than CBB and NFL ball is different than CFB. As it should be.

If I'm a vet, I don't like the rule mainly because it's taking jobs away from guys that contribute to MY Job security.

good NBA coaches do this. hell, this is phil jackson's selling point: "i get stars to play mature and with each other...and i win"

If people want the age limit fine, but I'd wish they would stop making the argument it's good for players.

It's good for the NBA teams and it's good for colleges.

I think there are some CFB freshmen and sophomores that could play in the NFL. More than we think could. AP could have played out of high school

I'm sure some people would be capable of doing it. I wouldn't mind if there was no rule saying they had to wait. However, many would get hurt if they tried, and even the ones that were able to make it probably wouldn't be overly successful right away. The difference in basketball is the NBA is currently dominated by players who didn't need three years of college or to wait until they are 20 to play professionally.

While I can understand support for a rule where players have to go straight out of high school or commit for three years, I don't really know if I agree with that, either. If a player plays a year and does well enough that he can make big money, I really don't think it's fair to make him wait.

Agree. The only reason the average John Q Public wants a age limit of any kind is bc they selfishly want a better college product.

Exactly. I just don't think it's fair to make a kid play for free* for an extra two years when he could be making money to support him and his family.

*I know they get room and board as well as an education, but let's not pretend that they're getting what they deserve or what they're capable of earning.

yeah they all but proved they had no interest in watching these guys develop in the NBA

american audiences are hard-wired to expect a college product. i think that's why the academy system won't work

two of the most emotionally and intellectually stunted human beings I've ever seen. They have not matured mentally past high school. A year or two in college would definitely have helped in that department.

Artest went to college. It doesn't matter if these guys got their masters, some people are just mental midgets.
