What were they trying to do last night ? They didn't blitz very much and rushed threw a lot and were giving the receivers a lot of cushion. What made them think that defense would work against Tom?

They play zone.

Tom Brady eats zone for breakfast, lunch, dinner.

The end.

The lack of a pass rush helped Brady more than anything.

New England's offensive philosophy is perfect against a zone defense.... their receivers run a bunch of short option routes and settle in the middle of holes in the zone

Lots do teams run zone. That zone Pittsburgh ran was one of the worst zones I've ever seen.

There were no pattern-reading concepts. There were no blitz concepts. It was one of the most stale, unimaginative scheme I've ever seen. Nothing but a bunch of stale, landmark drops with no QB pressures.

Just so horribly designed and executed.

They blitzed 6 times. Brady was 6 for 6 for 108 yards or some shite and a TD.

Iirc he was 36 for 39 on actual passed balls (removing drops and throw aways).

Well yeah, the way they were playing they had to get to the QB you have any success because with enough time those WRs will find a soft spot.

Didn't help that those guys did not seem to understand their assignments

It's what they do, has not faired well against the Pats though. Almost every time Brady has played them they spread them out and force their LBers to cover or show where they're rushing from. And I believe they also had 2 rookies out there.

One of the most fascinating things in sports to me is the Steelers running the 3-4. They have since 82. The 3-4 has nothing to do with their 70s run they started running it after the run.
