I grew up a Whalers fan in CT prior to switching my allegiance to the Rangers after the move was announced. It was fricking heartbreaking. At the same time, the Franchise was such a piece of shite. The arena was empty most nights that weren't against the Bruins or Rangers. They deserved to move.
Congrats to the Pens. I am Happy that Hags got a cup. fricking inept management with the Rangers trading him for a guy that isn't playing hockey anymore. You get what you pay for.
Also kind of happy for Kessel. He took a lot of shite from Toronto fans. The fat kid probably deserved it due to his attitude, but it's a good turnaround nonetheless.

Yep, I agree. Kessel or Lantang should've won it. Shoot, Murry deserved it more than Crosby did too.
Someone in the NHL loves them some Sid and the Pens. Crosby winning this reward shows us all, everything that happens on the ice doesn't always matter. The NHL craters to other influences like money, ratings, and popularity to much.

Yeah, Letang doesn't deserve the Conn Smythe, he deserves a fricking statue. The Pens rolled out, literally, a defense half staffed with guys who were in the AHL to start the year. Their #2 defensemen, Trevor Daley, is so little regarded that that the STARS gave him away for peanuts, and they are dressing sentient practice cones on their blueline.
And not only did they win the Cup, they won the Cup BECAUSE of their defense, not in spite of it. They were amazing when they really had no reason to be. Letang gets a lot of credit for that, for being the rock of that defense, and pulling insane minutes. Daley ranked second in ATOI at 22:08. Letang's average ice time was 28:53. That's almost seven minutes more a game. (He also ended up with 12 assists, or one less than Crosby).
Kris Letang's playoff performance was nothing short of heroic (I mean, within the parameters of hockey, he didn't save a kid from a burning building or anything). Honestly, I can envision the Pens winning the Cup without Kessel, as great as he played. I cannot do the same with Letang. He was the truly indispensable player of this run. If Letang isn't on the team, the Pens maybe even lose in the first round. He was that great.
