quote:

“This should happen everywhere,” New Orleans coach Stan Van Gundy tweeted Wednesday. “If you think the anthem needs to be played before sporting events, then play it before every movie, concert, church service and the start of every work day at every business. What good reason is there to play the anthem before a game?”

I knew the Pels had a commie as a head coach, but yeah, frick this guy.

I hope the NBA dies a slow death.

I love this country, but he's not wrong that there is a double standard.

I don't love the kneeling and virtue signaling. But, if you cry about that stuff, this is the end result.

Gah we are living in a time where hating your country is the new cool thing to do. It's exhausting.

It's smooth brained critical theory bullshite.

Don't add anything to the conversation. Only tear down what already exists.

The exact quote from SVG was the prevailing thought on the MSB a couple of years ago or whenever the kneeling thing was going on.

I'd argue that SVG is spot on here. But I do take issues with Cuban, because he stopped doing it but not for this reason. He specifically stated his reasons, and he said the feedback he received from those in the Dallas community was that it didn't represent their value or some shite.

He’s not wrong, it should be reserved for international competition.

This

I'm not a fan of kneeling either but I don't think many weigh the options from the perspective of being a business owner. Sure, you can just say you have to kneel that is the rule, and if you don't, we'll cut you. Then good luck with the backlash and losing of fans and millions in revenues. That's just not a logical option.

The logical option is this, just remove the Anthem entirely.

Yep. Thanks, to the media and useful idiots on the left for allowing us to get here.

Hopefully they just tear down all sports next and none of them will have a job. Of course all current athletes don’t give a frick that they are screwing over younger athletes since they already got their checks

How does this equate to hating your country?

I vividly remember my high school baseball coach, who was a Vietnam vet(only survivor of his platoon in a brutal battle and actually played dead while the Vietnamese went around cracking guys in the forehead with a knife to see if they reacted or not) turn to me during the NA before one of our games and say...."Can we just start the game already? Why do we have to do this every game?"

He sure as hell didn't hate his country as he told us multiple times, but he felt the NA wasn't necessary every single game.

Im sure he would be cool with the black anthem being played before every game though. That idea has already been thrown around, so it will probably happen in the near future.

I wouldn’t see a problem if the league did away with the policy requiring the anthem being played.

That would be just as pointless.
