surprised SC did not settle to avoid publicity. The facilities are among the worst in college football

He'll prolly win just bc that is how our legal system is set up but...

He dropped the bar, and USC doctors saved his life and voice.

Who knows what happened, but for anyone like myself who bencheds, how in the hell do you drop the bar on your neck?

Unless an Iron bar snapped in half, I dont see how a 55 year old man at a shitty YMCA drops a bench bar on their neck.

Ya, I don't know how he could win if he just dropped it. I mean, accidents do happen, sometimes you momentarily lose muscle control in a joint or hands. Explains why people drop their phones or stumble sometimes with no outside force causing them. Don't see how that's USC's fault. Plus, even if they were negligent in not spotting him or whatever, there is absolutely no way a spotter would be able to react quickly enough to catch that much weight in freefall.

There is too much common sense in that logic. We are talking about California civil court.

Aren't you supposed to keep your hands under the bar when spotting? I'm pretty sure it would be his responsibility to get one though.

He was repping 225. No NFL RB would ever request a spotter for such little weight.

Exactly, you would keep your hands there when you think there is a chance the guy isn't gonna get the weight up. But at that weight, thats like me asking for help picking up the peanut butter jar.

I'm sure he was using monkey grip and it just slipped off of his palms

Not judging the guy at all, but you would have to be acting very careless to drop a 225lb bench on your neck. Its just hard to do...

He'll prolly win just bc USC's insurance company will make sure the case never sees the inside of a courtroom

I don't know how I feel about this. Especially it being public.

I've done it and it's not hard to do

Not with 225 as I was in high school buy dropped like 135 and it literally bounced off my chest

Using monkey grip, and the bar rolled

The article says the Titans waived him. Wikipedia says he is on injured reserve with the Titans.

Which is it? If it's the first then it just sounds like a player that didn't make it in the NFL trying to get some extra cash.

because if i remember when this story happened, sc preferred their players to use the monkey grip to bench. and the bar slipped out of his hand and fell on his throat.
