The city, the county and the Regional Convention and Sports Complex Authority are suing the National Football League over the relocation of the Rams 15 months ago.

The 52-page suit filed Wednesday in St. Louis Circuit Court lists the National Football League and all 32 NFL clubs as defendants and seeks damages and restitution of profits.

"The Rams, the NFL, through its member teams, and the owners have violated the obligations and standards governing team relocations" because the Rams failed to meet league relocation rules, the suit claims. As such, the league has breached its contractual duties owed the plaintiffs, the suit says.

The Rams and the NFL made intentionally false statements, unjustly enriched themselves, the plaintiffs say, and interfered with business expectations.

The suit claims St. Louis has lost an estimated $1.85 million to $3.5 million a year in amusement and ticket tax revenue with the departure of the Rams. It says the city also has lost about $7.5 million in property tax and $1.4 million in sales tax revenue, plus "millions" in earning taxes.

This is go on for a few years and St. Louis will eventually settle for pennies on a dollar.

100%. The NFL really does have terrible PR these days though. Goodell is a fool.

How did the NFL screw this up? And how is this Goodell's fault?

Well:

- They've abandoned 3 cities in the last 3 years
- They have a big time concussion problem that they keep trying to sweep under the rug
- They supported Kaepernick and saw ratings plummet
- They acted like the Brady/Deflatgate thing was some big issue that nobody cared about. Brady/Kraft made Goodell look like a fool

Idk should I go on? Oh and Goodell is the ring leader so of course it's his fault.

I'm not saying that the Rams leaving St. Louis is illegal. But the NFL is going in the wrong direction and I think Goodell is a big part of it.

Any lawyers want to opine? I'm curious to hear if STL has a case.

Yeah that is why Mr Brady was suspended for 4 games and the only judge that Brady got a W with was a drinking buddy of Kraft.

yes thank you that makes more sense. You are right in this instance that Goodell didn't have much to do with it.

Goodell doesn't control what the owners do.

And as for St. Louis, the owner moved the team from a shitty stadium with terrible attendance stats, to one of the largest markets in the US. It was a smart move.

Well Brady still is pretty easily the most popular player in the NFL and he won the Super Bowl again in his suspension year.

Also no one cares about the deflategate thing other than staunch anti Brady/Belichick people who are mostly just jealous that the Patriots are on the best run in NFL history.

Yeah I honestly can't blame Kroenke from a business POV from doing what he did. He's as slimy as they come and they will never have a good team for as long as he owns them but he is just maximizing the value of his asset.

It sucks for the fans in St. Louis, but I would have done the same.

I agree. The only thing I have a problem with was him stringing on the area. Like dude we knew you were moving the team the entire time, don't just pay St. Louis lip service and say 'oh well if you build a nice stadium I might stay.'

Oh and I was also pissed about news blurbs calling him a 'self-made billionaire' when he is married to a Walton and his business began by developing Wal-Mart anchored shopping centers. That's about as far from 'self-made' as you can get.

They're going to feel really stupid if some judge forces them to take the Rams back.

Suit is only seeking monetary damages.

It will interesting how much of Jerry Jones actions play into the situation. If he was doing stuff back in '13 it could be problematic for the NFL.

no one sane cares at all. New England Brady bunch 21, pathetic losers 0 in the 2nd half with full balls.

The statement in the OP says that the NFL breached a contract. that ought to be easy to establish. St Louis gets an expansion team, the first two picks in the entire draft and extra picks in the first three rounds . 2 1's, two first picks in round 2 and the first three in round 3.

You answered questions that weren't asked and didn't answer the question that was asked.

And why did the Rams leave LA in the first place? LA has had ample opportunity to support multiple football teams, but never has.
