Ingram shouldnt have won it based on what? There was no clear cut winner that year and Ingram ran all over SEC teams, including a UF team that was 30 and 1 coming into the game. He then squashed any doubt in the NC game against the #1 rushing defense.

Jason White over Larry Fitzgerald
This was when I stopped caring about the Heisman. Fitz was an animal that season.

I agree that Te'o didn't deserve it, but I don't like the phrase "Best Athlete". The "Best Athlete" in college football was not Manziel, it was Jadeveon Clowney. Manziel was more like an MVP.

Yeah, but Jason White had a really good off the field story!

That Teo was even invited, let alone 2nd was a joke. It was a down year for the Heisman to be sure, but his season was nothing all that special, oh yeah, he had a lot of ints for a LB, yippie.

It is more of an MVP award in my eyes.
Of course there will always be better athletes around.

Classic example of the "best player on the best team". Actually, just the most marketable position player with good numbers on the best team.

I would like to see the days of inviting smaller school guys there (Keenum, Brennan, etc.) or not worry so much about the W-L aspect of it. This year there were plenty of guys that put up big numbers, Jordan Lynch, Kadeem Carey, Tavon Austin, and I could go on.
It has turned into the best player on the best team and I am just not a fan of that.

Discounting bowl games, Ingram played against 2 teams whose rushing D finished in the top 50. Gerhart played against 6 teams with top 50 rush defenses.
The only statistical advantage Ingram had over Gerhart was YPC.

Well that's obviously not been true the last two seasons

the Heisman hasn't meant something for some time now. It's unfortunate, because some great players have hoisted that trophy
Gino Toretta killed the Heisman trophy.

Doubtful.
Classic example of starting visible player on media loved team. You could slot a lot of running backs into Ingram's role.
And Charles W. was the best player in football that year and is going to the HOF. Manning choked in his biggest games (nothing has changed...see this past weekend) while Charles excelled in The Game...and in the bowl leading his team to the national title while Manning gave us Manning face after losing to Florida once again.

By that criterion Eli should have won, not Fitzgerald.
It's not an MVP award, it's not a "Best Player" award, and it's certainly not a "Best Athlete" award. It's for the "outstanding" player -- whatever that means.

If it were most outstanding player
Suh, Clowney and TM7 would be Heisman winners

I guess I'm the only one not to really give a frick about this.
