Sports Illustrated: Mike and Mike Radio Show is ending

SI.com has learned via multiple sources that ESPN executives are moving forward with the plan to shift Mike Greenberg—one half of the long-running Mike & Mike radio show on ESPN Radio—into a new role as the lead host of a television show that would air in the mornings on ESPN. The new show will have elements of SportsCenter—which currently airs at that time—as well as a traditional morning show. It is expected to be based in New York City.
The new program would put an end to end to Greenberg’s on-air partnership with Mike Golic, which began in October 1998. Mike & Mike currently airs weekdays on ESPN Radio from 6–10 a.m. ET and is simulcast on ESPN2.

When exactly did Mike & Mike take a dive? Or did it always suck? Around 2004, I was working in a warehouse and actually enjoyed ESPN Radio. Mike & Mike, The Herd had just started at that point, and then the GOAT Dan Patrick after that.

Ill never forget when I realized they didn't know shite, when they were doing their "Two A Days" when going over 2 NFL teams. They spouted some shite about the Saints that was so off the wall I Realized how awful they were. This was like 8 years ago and I don't think ive listened to them since.

Over time Greenberg began to get more and more politically correct to where he never wants to take a side on anything controversial. His non-takes on a sports type radio show gets annoying when he plays both side of the fence. Golic is just flat out awful at sports radio. I predict his angle on every issue because it begins with "as a former player..." then some macho canned response about back in his day.

I hope they move Golic to announcing college football games. I was actually impressed with his calling of bowl games.

So it sounds like Golic might be staying in the time slot? Just getting him a new co host?

It's is the perfect background noise for me as I am making breakfast and getting ready in the morning. I don't have to listen intently and just pick up on a few things here and there. Plus the broads they have on aren't bad to look at in the a.m.

I'm not bashing espn. I love the lebatard show and I know that isn't a popular opinion on here. Mike and mike is terrible.

If you treat his show as a pure sports radio show then I agree. But his show is like 10% sports talk and 90% entertainment based.
