BUT why did he need them????? Did he NOT think he was that good??? What was he trying to prove by taking them?
He thought he was the best player in the game but the guys getting all the attention were the steroid-taking home run hitters. He was tired of being overshadowed so he decided to take that next step.

No.

Unless the Hall opens a cheaters/liars wing- then he should be allowed into that section with Palmeiro, A-Rod, Sosa, Pete Rose, and the rest of the scum.

This makes zero sense... So you are saying Bonds was basically an attention whore........OK.....

Wow... The little respect I did have for him would disappear if this is true......

Doesn't matter what you think of his character he's one of the greatest to ever play the game.

Never said he wasn't....... But he still CHEATED...... Sorry but baseball historions are a special group and most writers and voters are part of said group... Like I have said, If they vote him in...Oh well.......... The MLB is not even close to what it used to be anyway.... The pitching is watered down and staring pitchers are not close to what they were 25-30 years ago. 5 innings is a QUALITY start??? Don't make me laugh...

Does one exist?

Maybe he should be in the a-hole Wing with Ted Williams, Bob Gibson, and Steve Carlton.

They already have that wing. It's whatever wing Gaylord Perry's on.

Well as long as we are judging the players on their morals, we are gonna need a lot of wings.

That's why the baseball HOF is a complete shite show. There are known cheaters in the HOF yet people want to keep others out because they cheated. Some forms of cheating are ok but apparently others are not.

I just read an article in the NYP that argees with you. But he was just an example. There are plenty of shitty people already in the hall, calling Bonds a cheater and saying he doesn't deserve to be in because of his lack of ethics doesn't hold water when you already have dirtbags in your club.

I can't answer that for him obviously but real benefit of so called PEDs is recovery. It helps him recover from injuries faster, it helps him work out harder, longer, which builds the muscle etc. It is not, as most assume or imply by comments, some magic elixor that you take and POW hit better . Not to say that it has no impact, but lets say it increases his power numbers by 20-25% (which is a lot btw) that would leave him between 570-600 HR. Going into the 2001 season (the year he hit 73) he had 494 HR in 15 years, that's an avg of just under 33/yr (32.93) if he avg that for 7 more years it would put it at 724. Now if you want to argue as he got older he # would go down, fine, lets say 25 for 7 more years (not unheard of) that puts him at 669. Clearly HOF #s regardless.

This is what I am talking about.. He was on his way to a stellar career before he even started on roids... His #'s would have been Mays like IMO......... So why take them Barry?????? I say he thought he wasn't that good and he would be left behind in the GOAT talk....... A shame... I wish Griffey Jr. had stayed healthy and see what he could have put up # wise......

Ego may have been the reason and i agree that's a shame, but he's not the first egomanic.

I know Griffey broke his wrist one year, but i forget now all his injuries, but basically his entire early 30's were injuried plagued. Bonds was also a workout fiend (the PEDs help him recover and build muscle faster, but he still had to live in the gym), i suspect Griffey was not.
