Spinoff of John Curtis player thread: these really are KIDS

Some people are calling a 16 year old trash and a piece of shite.
College players are at least usually in their early 20s, so you have somewhat of an excuse to get all hot and bothered by their play.
But the way you guys make out about HS football with underage kids is just weird. Those people in Friday Night Lights and Varsity Blues were being ridiculed not lauded for being obsessed with kids sports.
Step back and look in the mirror bros. you may not like what you see.

Nothing to do with football but 16 years olds can be pieces of shite.
It is actually possible.

Yeah it's really weird. These high school kids play sports for fun.
Then there are grown men with grown men jobs and grown men problems calling these teenagers jackasses because they might not play well enough in the high school game they play for fun. And they don't even know any of the kids on the team.
An adult ridiculing a high school kid because he dropped a pass is ridiculous. Getting that invested in 16 year old athletics is crazy to me.

I was a thug POS at 16. I grew out of it, but was definitely not a model citizen at that age.

He might be a kid, but so is the other player who he purposely tried to injure.
Are you suggesting that just because he is a kid he can't be a POS for what he did?
Maybe some people get carried away over a high school football game, but that is a POS move. Don't care if it's a kid or a grown man.

I agree
I also know that kids know better at that age

I agree with you.
Should he have done it? No. Did he get punished and probably learn his lesson? Yes and hopefully.
I know people I played football with that did awful things at the bottom of a big pile...I know one for certain who is now a doctor. Even then he was considered a great kid. He should not have done what he did, but the kid is hurting worse than anyone right now

This thread isn't about the kid. It was a spinoff.
This thread is about how weird it is for grown adults to care about HS sports.

The name calling that goes on here is so out of control.

Their parents are the pos usually. It is how they're raised

You shoulda known how this would end up. Kid should have known better, these adults care too much

How's it weird? Caring about high school sports is the most pure fan/school relationship there is. It's not like rooting for some college you've never gone to like the majority of college fans, or some pro team that you have no ties to other than they're in your state.
You're cheering on your kids, your relatives, your neighbors that you've watched grow up, your friends kids, your community, your school.

So they shouldn't have cared that he's purposefully trying to injure someone? In a sport that's already dangerous enough.
Had he done that on the streets he'd be in jail, not suspend for a few games.

Dropping a pass =/= gouging out eyes.
He's just a kid though.

This spinoff implies you think people shouldn't be that upset with the kid because he's 16 years old.
You're better off just starting a thread called "Why do adults care about high school sports"

Oh, I see. So no one is allowed to call a spade a spade since it's a high school game.
Give me a break. So if this kid does this in college, it's ok then to call him a POS, because he is playing college ball?
A punk is a punk, no matter what the level is. A high school junior should know better.

Just a kid trying to make another's eyeballs pop out. You're obsessed with pass dropping if you say something about this dindu nuffin child.

you know if he was white, we'd be celebrating his willingness to get down and dirty, "making up for his physical limitations", "boys will be boys"
but because he's black we call him a thug and suspend him for two games
