Uhh, yes? Which I've said from the get go, if you were paying attention or reading.

A sport is an activity that involves competition, where competitive advantage is gained through superior athleticism or dexterity, and is governed by a set of rules.

so basically anything played as a team = sport. anything played individually unless directly against another person in unison is not?

team, individual, doens't fricking matter. The bottom line that I thought I made pretty clear (in my OWN OPINION of what a sport is) is 100%, solely based on your opponent hindering your success. That's it.

Tennis has that, so I'd call it a sport.

I bet tiddly winks, hopscotch, and ball on a string in a cup have been around for centuries but I wouldn't call those sports.

Nice straw man. I said long established sports. Those have NEVER been called sports in history.

Go back and you will find people calling track a sport. Not the other absurd examples you provided.

I wasn't paying attention.

I'm merely pointing out that your opinion is ill-informed and but based in anything other than your hate for a particular sport or number of sports. Very educated, I must say.

Not really sure athleticism should factor in.

quote:a sport, to me, should be defined as a competition involving more than 1 individual (or teams of individuals) in which the competitors (or certain individuals on the team) experience either continuous, or short transient periods of an elevated (70-80% of max) heart rate SECONDARY to physical activity, and not due to chemicals (ie, caffeine) or certain biomolecules (ie, hormones). Baseball's not a sport. Got ya.

By his definition, baseball could either be a sport or not depending on how you did that day. DH going 0-4 with 4 Ks, not a sport. CF going 2-4 with 2 doubles and 3 put outs, sport.

Yea. I don't need to look it up. I know already. You, however, are crushed by my argument and can't provide a rebuttal.

You don't think athleticism should be factored in the definition of a sport?

Are you retarded?

Based on what, becuase it's not yours? I think my definition makes a good bit of sense.

I'd also like to point out I'm not writing letters to petition the white house to accept my definition of a sport. It's just the way I feel.

what the hell are you talking about? Can you please provide us with specific examples of sports I claim I hate?

Disrupting their concentration somehow and making them not hit the ball to the best of their ability.

Rebuttal to the fact that society has called certain activities a "sport" for a long arse time?

Ok? What do you want me to rebut? I don't know if yall are purposely not paying attention or just typing words at random, but I have REPEATEDLY stated, probably going on over 6 times now, that everything I'm saying is what I PERSONALLY consider to be a sport. If you want to call track a sport becuase it's been around a while and people have called it a sport a long time, knock yourself out chief. There's really nothing to rebut with what you're saying. You're posting an opinion just like I am.
