Good, the cubs have needed to do this for a while.

That guy is going to be missed. He deserved better than what he got from some fans. Best of luck to him. Reports that his (former) teammates are visibly upset.

And with that I think everyone from the 08 division champs is gone.

I'm going to miss watching him in a Cubs uniform.

why? I can't have an opinion about a guy that I don't think was worth the pathetic contract we paid him? are you serious?

8 years and $136 million great job Jim.

Disagree. It's easy to look at his contract and bitch. It's harder to dive in deeper.

So take that out on Kenny, McDonough and Henry. Do you typically walk away from money idiots are trying to give you?

Sori was a good player and by all accounts a better guy.

I think we have cleared house now (assuming Soriano is actually traded). All contracts are good and are looking to move forward.

I am ready to start holding on to a couple of guy with friendly deals. I want to hold on to Schierholz. I feel like he is worth more (especially on that contract) than any prospect we would get for him.

The Cubs can start building their core and hoping guys stick.

*I think Lake becomes our Martin Prado with legs and a cannon.

Nobody is worth that much money, but it's not Soriano's fault. Hendry gave him the contract. Should Soriano have turned it down?

And just about every year for a hundred years before that.

Agreed. I've said many times his value to the cubs right now will almost certainly outweigh any trade offered

I agree. I hope we hold on to DeJesus a bit longer too. Dude is great for the younger players, as was Soriano.
