Last WEEK Curry made 33 three point shots.

Jordan made more than 33 three point shots in a SEASON in only 4 of his 15 seasons!

Even more impressive how he scored like that despite not shooting 3s.

Curry is by far the best shooter in the NBA. But Jordan is overall a better basketball player.

I agree with this ^. Obviously the game has changed but dang!

I also didn't realize that Jordan never shot 3s

of course he is b/c of defense.

I'm not going to see Curry is better than Jordan, but every night teams chase him and double him to try and not let him have the ball in his hands. He shoots 3's quicker than anyone i've ever seen with 7 footers making reasonable challenges at his shots, and he makes half of them while attempting more than anyone ever has. How he does what he does from beyond the 3 point line is unexplainable.

Instead of trying to say he's better than this guy or this guy would have done this defensively against him, just watch him and enjoy what you're seeing, b/c what he is doing is truly amazing and we have never seen a shooter like him.

Also take into consideration that in Jordan's era, the 3 was still somewhat of a novelty. Teams still had big men that hopefully could contribute if you got them the ball in the post, even if was by passing. There was more working for shots. Teams were not throwing up shite tons of threes per game like they are now.

Just leave the thread please. Or I will embarrass you further

quote:

Objective stats are more favorable than the old conventional wisdom.

ESPN's Real Plus-Minus loves Curry's defense -- he's currently #3 after Bledsoe and Rubio, and notably far ahead of #8 Chris Paul, with a 1.82 DRPM over Pauls' 0.82 DRPM.
NBA SportVU likes Curry too. If you look at guards with a reasonable amount of defensive action, out of 72 guards ranked by opponent's FG %, Curry is: #9 (less than 5ft); #4 (5-9 ft); #46 (10-14 ft); #12 (15-19 ft); #21 (20-24 ft); #11 (25-29 ft). That is somewhere between very good and elite.
Then look at the 113 guards playing more than 21 min a game. Ranked by Defensive Rating, the top players are Tony Allen, Andre Iguodala and then a tie for #3 between Khris Middleton and (wait for it) Steph Curry.
Curry is even #3 in Steal Rate at 2.1 per game.

Fair enough. But also take into consideration in Jordans era there was more 1 on 1 defense making driving and scoring easier

this.

That stat is not even the slightest bit shocking as the 3 point line was virtually ignored unless it was an end of game situation
