I don't think that crosses his mind

Like he obviously wasn't thinking about his future when he swung, so it's not like he stopped and said...oops this is on elevator video with cheesy music

Agreed, but the public reacted strongly and Roger was already in hot water for only suspending him for 2 games. So he had one of his patented knee-jerk reactions.

I completely understand the move by the NFL and the Ravens. However, if I'm the head of the NFLPA, you have to be concerned with the NFL handing down a punishment, changing the rule, then retroactively enforcing a punishment that is more severe than the one already rendered AND the new rule.

are we really penalizing ray for the mistake he made like we are the judicial system, or are we penalizing ray for the mistake he made and damage done to the league. If latter, the video definitely adds to the damage.

Pretty sure the NFL doesn't even know what they are penalizing him for

when there's a video of an incident, it makes it that much worse for the NFL so maybe the punishment should be worse when you have the stupidity to get the shite on video for the world to tarnish the shield.

Finally, and consistent with our Personal Conduct Policy, our own response to domestic violence or sexual assault incidents by NFL personnel will include new elements of evaluation, treatment and family support, as well as enhanced discipline. We will address these issues fairly and thoughtfully, respecting the rights of all involved and giving proper deference to law enforcement and the courts. If someone is charged with domestic violence or sexual assault, there will be a mandatory evaluation and, where professionally indicated, counseling or other specialized services. Effective immediately, violations of the Personal Conduct Policy regarding assault, battery, domestic violence or sexual assault that involve physical force will be subject to a suspension without pay of six games for a first offense, with consideration given to mitigating factors, as well as a longer suspension when circumstances warrant. Among the circumstances that would merit a more severe penalty would be a prior incident before joining the NFL, or violence involving a weapon, choking, repeated striking, or when the act is committed against a pregnant woman or in the presence of a child. A second offense will result in banishment from the NFL; while an individual may petition for reinstatement after one year, there will be no presumption or assurance that the petition will be granted. These disciplinary standards will apply to all NFL personnel.

Much like MLB and MLBPA with Arod, like him or not the powers in charge went after him without a failed drug test. Paperwork and testimony they had were enough for the "good of the game" lingo but MLBPA didn't lift a finger because of media image. Just like the NFLPA won't do a thing here. Image has become our pro sports leagues now, to much $$ for anyone to go out on a limb, no I am not sticking up for Rice or Arod just commenting on it all with a don't rock the boat policy.

The thing that gets to me is the sports reporters following the games on a daily basis. NFL beat writers knew this was the case but didn't write much until the absurd 2 game penalty and then the video. They could have beat a drum but were content on reporting about Manziel and Richard Sherman. MLB writers knew all along about steroids but didn't care because the game was growing. But now that they have the "holier than thou" they can hang it over players with HOF votes.

*end of rant, holy shite wheres the tylenol?*

Absolutely. I imagine they aren't making much noise about it right now since the pitchfork society would crucify them for supporting Rice.

Rice is a POS but the NFLPA has to appeal on his behalf.

And to whom would the NFLPA appeal to? The commish, according to the CBA signed off on by the NFLPA. The suspension is basically irrelevant if/when no other team in the league picks him up, and that would be monumental PR gaffe. Most of the talking heads are saying that the league's (Goddell taking the position that since it has come out that Rice lied ( he claimed self defense in his meeting ) the league now has new information to act on. Rice's atty had a copy of the video, why didn't the league demand it as part of its investigation???

You mean like they are about to do for Josh Gordon and Wes Welker?

It's ok to lessen their suspensions with new rules, but it's not ok to add to a suspension for Ray Rice now that there are new rules?

Can't have your cake and eat it to NFL, or maybe you can?

So when the appeal court finally wraps up Hardys case and finds him guilty, which they will, will he done for good too? Because what he did is way way way way worse

I don't understand how he will possibly be suspended for longer than 6 games like the new rule says. It's not like the video uncovered some new evidence that we didn't already expect.

With that said he fully deserves a lengthy suspension and there is no way in hell I would want him representing the team I'm a fan of.
