Pretty stupid to get ball back if they kick a field goal but not get ball back if its a touchdown. Pretty subjectively based imo.

I prefer true sudden death.

I agree. I said it as soon as it went to overtime. "Sucks such a great game will be determined by a coin flip. Neither defense is stopping the offense that gets it first." Timed OT needs to be used imo.

what? new england had just stopped atlanta for like a quarter and a half straight.

timed overtime is for sjw's, black lives matter, and trans whatever weiners.

Pat's defense kept the Falcons to 21 points, and only 7 in the second half.

Conservative Atlanta, trying to get out of there with a win. Not a team playing to score once and win the Super Bowl. The playcalling would've been different.

I was going for New England btw.

they had the ball with a minute left. they did squat. Ive seen them win games in the exact scenario before.

thats not an overtime problem, its a coaching failure that you are up 25 and lose the game. Sudden death made it way more exciting. True sudden death is even more exciting.

I like the total use of the field for OT, but it is unfair that both offenses and defenses don't get a part in determining the winner.
Baseball : each team gets an an inning to score

Basketball, and all others: timed overtime.

Even tennis you keep playing. Imagine if a set is at 6-6 and the umpire flips a coin to see who serves the one game to determine the set winner.

NFL isn't the only sport that uses sudden death.

I didn't really have a dog in the fight, but it was a little anti-climatic at the end. I've never liked this OT format. Still a great game though.

I'd prefer something like college, personally.

I believe it is in a playoff environment.

NHL: NO sudden death

NBA: No sudden death

MLB: No sudden death

Soccer: No sudden death

Tennis: No sudden death

After extensive research (approximately 20 seconds), it appears rugby uses sudden death.

Do you NHL bro?

As for the other person claiming ATL went conservative...

No. They didn't. Had they gone conservative, especially when they had the ball on the NE 22 up 8, they win the game. They didn't. They tried to pass. It failed miserably.

If we had old rules, the Patriots might have just played for the FG and not the TD. This would have caused a push on the spread.

My wallet and i favor the current system.

"In the knockout stages of rugby competitions, most notably the Rugby World Cup, two full-length extra time periods of 10 minutes each are played (with an interval of 5 minutes in between) if the game is tied after full-time."
