So you would personally rather a stistion where a team gets no shot to win, over a situation may possibly get an extra shot to win?

At least in situation 2 the defense has a chance to stop them

I am fine with the rule as it is. It tries to simulate what would happen if there were no stoppage of play.

You act like that's a benefit for the Falcons.
You act like defenses don't take timeouts to get in the optimal defense in late game situations

Up 30-26. 9 seconds on the clock. Offense with no timeouts. WR tackled in bounds. Clock running.

Yeah. Defenses call timeouts here all the time.

Wow that's great

Let's simulate the end of games.

Oh and 1 team has a 0% chance to win in this simulation.

Yeah. There's a 10 second run off in both NFL and CFB.

This is the first time you're hearing about it?

Didn't say all the time.

But it isn't extremely rare.

The issue with this isn't the time left. It's the down and distance. Defenses call TOs during that down and distance, period.

What? I know the rule.

I'm being sarcastic about you liking a rule that simulates an athletic contest with one team having a 100% chance to lose.

That's the reasoning behind the rule. I understand the reasoning.

It's on you if you don't.

9 seconds. Clock running. Offense scrambling to spike the ball. Defense wins if the clock runs out.

Defense calls timeout.

I don't agree with it. I think that's plenty of time for a team to run a few feet and snap a ball.

Or loses if they get the snap off because a run up the middle is almost assuredly scoring.

Not rare at all, he says.

No chance in hell Falcons are calling a timeout there. A timeout there exponentially benefits the Lions.

"The defense is going to call a TO here to get in a good look."

There's literally no way you haven't heard that sentence during a frantic 1 yard to go situation.

Not with 9 seconds on the clock, offense tackled in bounds, clock running.

Nope.

"Yeah, but both teams get a timeout."

Give me a break.
