1000 Karate Kid jokes an article still doing it for you?

And seriously have you heard him try to hold a discussion on Football before? He has bad fantasy football fan syndrome. He lets him guests carry the weight while he interjects something that is either exactly what they just said or something that makes no sense so the guest has to go "um, no". He can guess football lines well, but other than that hes pretty damn clueless about football

An interesting thing Simmons said once was that no top 50 player all time had played for more than 3 teams. Shaq played for 6 teams...

Nothing to do with his Duncan > Shaq idea, but Simmons is the biggest fair weather guy on TV. He always calls players over the hill once they have a few bad games (Wade after like 20 games this year), but hops right back on that bandwagon after a few games. Also, he's the quickest to pick out who's going to bust out of the league. He used to kill Mike Conley until he started slurping him up recently. Pretty certain he did the same thing w/ Paul George. In Harden's 2nd year, he suggested OKC was crazy for picking him and that they should try and salvage value from the pick. Now, he acts like it's inconceivable that they traded him.

fricking this. He is a complete hack. I have no idea how people like him much less consider his stupid opinions.

You're mad because he recognized the Rockets fleeced the Thunder in the Harden trade.

I've said it before. I just can't stand reading 4,000 words of nothing but pop culture references.

Nope.

He literally ripped the "Zombie Sonics" for every single move the franchise made INCLUDING drafting Harden. And then quietly cowers and doesn't come back to eat crow when reality proves he has no clue.

It was balanced out by Bucher's man crush for Kahn.

Simmons on Thunder taking Harden (chat on ESPN.com with fans)

Some poster named "cb" writes:

...Also, mark my words, the ULTIMATE BUST is going to be James Harden. You will be using him as an example for every NBA-related column by 2011.

Bill Simmons' reply:

quote:

(1:53 PM) I'm with you on Harden. If you didn't do it consistently in college, why should I think you'll do it in the pros?

Bill Simmons. NBA genius.

I like Simmons, but I think it's important to recognize that he's more of an entertainer than an actual analyst (regardless of whether or not ESPN has him doing games now). He's entertaining, but guys like Zach Lowe or Henry Abbot just make him look silly when they're on his podcast

The thing is, he is not very entertaining. I just don't find him funny or anything.

He's pretty hit or miss for me. Some of his stuff is just terrible, like the reality tv fantasy league

More Simmons genius/Thunder hate:

quote:

4:52: The Zombie Sonics take … James Harden. And thank God, I didn't want to turn on Seattle. I really didn't. "He's battled asthma since he was a child," Scott tells us. How does Rubio drop to No. 4? How?!? I feel like I'm gonna pass out. I like Harden as a glue-character guy and he definitely has a good porn name. But considering the Zombies have to worry about Durant fleeing in a couple of years( ), wasn't it in their best interests to find him an unselfish guard who's immensely fun to play with and was put on the earth to get Durant easy baskets? Big mistake.

quote:

4:54: An anonymous Seattle reader sends this e-mail: "Thank you, OKC. You almost had the most exciting team of the NBA. -- Signed, Seattle." Exactly. Although I like the way Harden is handling this Jones interview right now (very smooth); I like his bow tie (sharp); and I really like his retro-James Worthy beard (tremendous). He's definitely one more solid character guy for the Zombies. Logical pick. You know, except for the part where they passed on a guy with Bird-Barry-Magic-Nash-Maravich passing genes.

Compares Rubio to some of the greatest passers of all time, claims Durant will probably leave, and Harden was a bad pick. Bill. fricking. Simmons. Real NBA Genius.
