No, it never runs off any time on a delay of game.

ETA: I was wrong. It can runoff if the clock is already running.

I quit drinking at midnight last night. I am hungover but what does that have to do with the Mike Smith dumpster fire?

Is Mike Smith your uncle or something?

You're right. I forgot that the team had the option to decline the penalty and rarely will you ever see a 10 sec runoff after a delay of game.

Why was Caldwell running the ball on third down with 20 sec left?

Why did Mike Smith bail him out and call a timeout with the clock running & under 25 seconds left?

Giving up 3rd and 25 for a TD is poor coaching. The players had the ability to cover that but they were not correctly prepared.

Everything that happened after that...

Blew a 21-0 halftime lead.

Highlights:

2 timeouts on the 25 with a minute left in the first half. Decision to kill the clock instead of trying for a FG (a last second first half FG drive was the decision against the Saints)

Detroit gets a 3rd and 25 wide open TD catch

Falcons have the ball 2nd and 10 around the 50 with 1:50 left and Detroit is out of time outs. They proceed to get a holding call and throw an incomplete pass to give Detroit about 1:40 to work with. 2 run plays or even kneel downs gives them like 30 seconds to work with

Garret wouldn't have a chance if he went from the NFC Champ to 4-12 and then started 2-6 the next year.
