Should Cowboys draft one of big 3 QB's at #4 pick?

So big three, Wentz, Goff, Lynch.
Tony Romo is turning 36 in days, so after this qb's rookie year, Tony Romo will be 37 next year. He's had his share of health related issues. Obviously always numerous ways to do things, but an outright cut of Tony Romo next year saves right over 5 million but has 19 million ish of dead money on the books that year.

No.
Get Sudfeld or Prescott later, get Bosa or Ramsey in Rd 1. Then the war room can smoke cigars and call in the dancing girls to do lines off their breast.

No get Bosa, Ramsey or Jack at 4.
Jerry can get his boy Brandon Allen later in the draft.

if you pass on qb, then why even take one later. i don't get the thoughts how teams assume its a safe play to just get that "3rd round" type qb like he can be a sure thing in future. You can't cheap out on the qb position. If you want to ride tomo Rony out another 3 years, that's fine, then you don't really need an early round qb

I could be completely wrong, so I'm legit asking the cowboys fans in here. I thought I saw some scuttlebutt a few weeks ago that DAL had some minor interest in trading for Aaron Murray to be tony's backup/next in line. Was that just a rumor or any legs there?

Aka, the Browns strategy. Get a non-QB with the first pick, then try to fill the gaping need at QB with a later pick.

Ron Wolfe with Green Bay used to draft a QB every year. That's what I would do if I'm Dallas.
But currently, they are built to win now.

No. Romo has 3-4 years left. Why would the Cowboys waste a top 4 pick on a player that won't play anytime in the near future as opposed to drafting a day 1 starter right now, probably on the defensive side of the ball? Furthermore, say they do take a QB, after his 4 year rookie deal is up, another team that needs a QB in the future will inevitably over pay exactly how the Texans just did for Osweiller.
Option 1 - Pick Joey Bosa, Jalen Ramsey, Deforest Buckner, Myles Jack or whomever they have ranked higher on their big board. Get badass starter and contributor from day 1
Option 2 - Pick a qb that will never play then groom him for 4 years as a back up before he signs with another team and you have to compete against him

Depends on if they think the one available is a franchise QB. I'm not sure if they are.
I think Ramsey is the ear pick.

If Wentz and Goff are gone, you either trade back in the first round, or you don't take a QB in the first round. Lynch isn't worth the #4 pick. And the only way you pick a QB in the first round is if you feel the guy can sit on the bench for a few years ala Aaron Rodgers before you hand him the keys to the franchise.

The irony of this statement is the fact that Romo was an undrafted QB.
Russell Wilson, Matt Schaub, and Nick Foles were third rounders.
Kyle Orton, Landry Jones, and Matt Barkley were 4th rounders.
Tom Brady, Mark Bulger, and Matt Hasselbeck were all 6th rounders.
Are all of those guys great? No. But 3 of them (Wilson, Brady, and Hasselbeck) were starters on Super Bowl teams. Wilson and Brady won Super Bowls, and just matched wits 2 years ago in the Super Bowl.
Sure, you aren't going to hit every time on a 3rd round or later QB, but you never know when you will find a diamond in the rough.
And taking a QB for big money in the first round is no guarantee either. Freeman, Sanchez, Leinart, Young, Leftwich, Carr, and Couch ring any bells?

As a first rounder, you are allowed the 5th year option so another team would not be able to "over pay"

No... If Dallas had Brady, Rodgers, Brees, or Manning then yea...
But I wouldn't want my rookie, future of the franchise QB learning from a bum choke artist

No QB is a guarantee, but you'd be better off taking a QB in the first than hoping to find that diamond in the rough in the later rounds.

Maybe they should but they won't. Jerry is still in charge and is desperate to win a Super Bowl with a team he get credit for building before he retires/dies. Drafting a QB this year doesn't help with that goal. It won't happen.

i think the problem with this year is there are no sure-fire QBs in the draft, period. Better to draft who you think is better in the 1st unless you need a starting QB now. JMO

True. I'm not sure how I would go, honestly. If I felt that guy was really a good fit, then I'd take him first round. I think it's rare in the NFL today that a QB goes in the first round and is successful immediately. Or any QB for that matter.

I think Sudfeld is the guy to get. Early I wanted Wentz but he's moved up to high. Need DL DB help.
