It would be wild if a safety equaled a TD. Kinda like an own goal.

Yeah, it should be more than a FG. 4 + the ball seems better.

3.50 is the obvious answer.

Certainly worth as much as some boring chip shot FG. At least 3 points.

Absolutely. I'd be fine if it counted as 6 and was just considered a defensive touchdown.

It would also be really interesting to see how it changed the strategy of the game. I'd assume it would make good punters MUCH more valuable and coaches that would typically go for it on 4th might try pinning the other team deep instead to get that 6 points.

shite, now that I think about it....I kinda like it.

It's one of the hardest plays to make
You do get the ball in pretty good field position as the other team has to kickoff
Do you change that too?

I think adopting the XP attempt needs to model after the NFL too as well as overtime rules.

I think so. Make it 6 and then the team that just scored kicks off like they just scored a TD.

Why is it obvious?

More than 2. They are hard to come by.

Agree

No way. College OT is awesome and should never change. I think it's one of the best parts of the sport.

To answer OP's question I think two and the ball is good. I could see it being worth more but the team keeping possession.

I would say 5. More than a field goal, less than a TD. I would say more than 5, but the fact that the team who gets the safety, also gets the ball back, and can take an even larger advantage is why I’d say it shouldn’t be worth as much as a TD.

2 seems right given you also get the ball in prime field position.

College kicking as a whole is not good enough for that.

I agree. I would, however, like to see the pros kick from wider hashmarks and more extreme angles like the collegiates do.

If a touchdown is 6 then it seems like a safety should be 6 the other way. The least logical rule in football though is the NFL’s pass interference rule. A defensive PI gives the offensive team credit for having caught the ball at the spot of the foul but the reverse is not the case. Why doesn’t the defense get possession of the ball at the spot of foul on an offensive pass interference? It’s completely nonsensical.
