Can anyone who's been give me a heads up on what to expect. I'm taking my dad out there for a couple days next weekend. What's the atmosphere like? I've only been to one Tour event and it was the WGC up in Akron a few years ago. We had a blast and it wasn't too crowded. Should I expect a similar experience?
I haven't bought tickets yet so recommendations on which tent or what areas to hang out would be appreciated too. TIA

I just walked the course last year. Everything is across the ditch but holes 1 and 18. There's a pretty good viewing spot for early on in the day behind #2's green where you can see tee shots on #3 and also them going for the green in 2 on #8.

I enjoyed it immensely. Great course and friendly folks.

Golfer had some good recs. You can also post up between 3 and 11 and watch players go down the fairway on each hole and watch players go for the green across the lake on 12. A lot of players bail out to the low spot between 3 and 11, so you get to see some players more closely.
I'm not sure how old your dad is, but mine is in his 60's and the muggy heat wears him out pretty quickly. If it looks like it'll be warm, we usually get there earlier in the morning and head out around 1-2.

going on Friday. all you can eat and drink tent. Pumped.
to me the biggest hassle is getting in and out of there. hate parking at the airport for it.
we are considering an UBER for to and from.

I wonder what the surge charge will be, but good idea otherwise.
It is actually only about a 10 minute drive from where I live here near lake houston. I may think about checking it out. What are prices like for one day?

Between $50 and $100 on Stubhub for a general admission Champions Pavilion Pass.

I went yesterday. I had no idea what to expect because I'm not from the Houston area. I did a little research on google satellite maps, but the information above is what I went with. AWESOME advice!
It really was a good spot.i mostly stayed between 2, 3, 8, 11, and 12. I wanted to thank TheChoosenOne. Got a prime spot to watch Hunter Mahan and Phil Mickeson play from under the pines to the right of the #3 fairway, all while we ducked from a tee shot coming left from #11.

That is a rowdy hole. If he hits that later in the day, after all the partiers are good and liqoured up, that place would have been nuts.

They aren't already that way at 12:30? What's wrong with them?
Nice to see Lefty playing well. Spieth too. Always good to see players in form leading up to the majors.

I was at the course very early yesterday, and you could definitely hear the roars, noise, and just general partying from the 16th gallery increase by the hour throughout the day. By 3:00 or so yesterday they were at full force.
You're probably right, in New Orleans we don't have to wait until afternoon to get fully rowdy.

This Cook kid playing well, wonder how he holds up the rest of today and tomorrow. If he sits on the lead tonight the realization that he could be headed to Augusta has got to stir up the butterflies.

I'm just waiting for Wagner to choke on the D.
No way he sneaks off here with a W.

Jordan Spieth is really freaking good at golf.

Dawgsontop,
I wanna thank you for keeping the tournament threads going.

Apparently I'm also very good at jinxes
Spieth just had his first 3 putt in 280 holes.
And no problem, I just love golf and talking about it. I'm glad there's at least a couple other people that feel the same way.
And all that being said, I generally won't start them if there's a chance I won't be able to update it on Sunday to include the leaders in the thread title. I feel like people generally appreciate that.

Speith is going to be in this one to the end. Love his competitiveness. Just came up short on a little half wedge and you could hear him getting on himself.

Fought hard to get that up and out of the bunker by Mahan.
Cook made a mistake. Nerves starting.

What an unbelievable up and down from Mahan. Not a bad putt from Spieth either
