At first glance, this seems wildly cheap all things considered. A $632.08 base fare for a nine-hour drive is generous considering poor Hadi has to get this car back to Chicago at some point. Speaking as someone who has tried to negotiate his way out of Manhattan on New Year's Eve with a yellow cab driver, the O'Hare trip to Buffalo feels favorable. Wright detailed his journey on Wednesday in an interview with the team's official site.

"My flight ended up getting in late, so I wasn't able to make my connecting flight," said Wright, who added that he didn't rent a car because he wanted to sleep before practice. "I called one of my ex-teammates that lives in Chicago ... and he wasn't able to take me and Uber was my next thought."

Gave the guy a $300 tip. Searched and didn't see anything. Cool story

What kind of cut does the driver get on just the base fare? Ubers pay system has always confused me

75-80 percent on standard rides, but I wonder if the amount they make is capped at a certain amount.

I thought drivers got 75% of each ride but I could be wrong

How does a 9 hour trip only cost $632 but I had to pay $70 for a ride from South of campus to Prairieville???

I was talking to my Uber driver and he said Uber works with them and know which drivers are willing to do long trips (3-4 hours or more) so if a rider requests one it will route to those individuals. They will then call and talk about the trip and logistics.

Pretty crazy

Probably surcharge. Most nights you can get from that area to Pville for 20-25 bucks
