Everytime I see a game with these kinds of temperatures I immediately think of this:

Check back to San Diego vs. Cincinnati playoff game in the 80's. I think wind chills were down to -59 in that one.

Hey we shall see come gameday ha. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. I just don't see less than 70% of the players not wearing longsleeves, gloves, and a good bit of balaclavas.

The Freezer Bowl. And yes some of those crazy bastards weren't wearing sleeves.

quote:

The game, won by the Bengals, 27–7, was played in the coldest temperature in NFL history in terms of wind chill. (The coldest in terms of air temperature was the Ice Bowl.) Air temperature was -9 °F (-23 °C), but the wind chill, factoring in a sustained wind of 27 miles per hour (43 km/h), was -37 °F or -38 °C (calculated as -59 °F or -51 °C using the now outdated wind chill formula in place at the time). The game was played at Cincinnati's Riverfront Stadium, and televised by NBC with announcers Dick Enberg and Merlin Olsen.

That was 83 wasn't it? They nicknamed it the Freezer Bowl.

Bruce Irvin: "I kind of wanted to go to Washington. It's gonna be hella cold up there next week."

Shariff Floyd: "This is nothing. This is what we do. This is why we're in Minnesota in the first place. It's just an element we've got to get through. We can't make it an advantage. Mother Nature did that. We're just embracing it. It's a mind-set."

When we played in Montana and Youngstown we would use either Vaseline or skin lube on their arms for our OL. They were not allowed to wear sleeves, they could be grabbed. The DL was harder to convince but some did it.

Stub hub has nearly twice as many tickets for this game as all other playoff games, and for less than half the price. No thanks

ESPN is going to show us how cold it is outside in a number of stupid ways.

They probably let that Sports Science guy out of his cage already to do a piece. "It's going to be -5 degrees at kickoff. That's cold enough to freeze 1,000 pizza rolls in 13 seconds!!!"

I have thought about going, but I have to admit it's too cold to sit outside for a game. I'll watch it on tv instead. I have dressed for cold games outside before, The main thing is to keep your feet warm and wear a good hat and have a cushion or blanket to sit on instead of the aluminum bench and to have a blanket to wrap around you.

Ahhh YES... The way NFL playoff football should be played... Now if it was just being played on grass........... Too bad nobody in Baton Rouge will be able to see it... plus a few inches of snow would be cool to.....
