Marshawn Lynch has been indispensable to the Seattle Seahawks. The team recognizes that and has reportedly offered him a contract extension that would keep Beast Mode there beyond the 2015 season, which is when his current deal expires, according to a report from Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.

Full details of the contract offer were not available. However, the deal is believed to be a lucrative one that includes more than $10 million for the upcoming season. That would double the $5 million that Lynch is due on his current contract 2015.

The Seahawks dealt for Lynch during the 2010 season, sending a fourth- and fifth-round pick to the Bills in exchange for the running back in October of that year. Since then, Lynch has amassed 5,930 rushing yards and scored 54 touchdowns for the Seahawks. He ran for 1,306 and scored 17 rushing and receiving touchdowns this season.

Marshawn Lynch has one of the best PR teams in the NFL. He went from a great player to a talking point by saying nothing while throwing up the middle finger to the NFL. Genius.

I would let him go. They got their best years out of him. He won't be worth $10 million a year.

Do they have a higher salary cap? High paid contracts on D. About to have to pay Wilson a ton. Oline can't be cheap. Now you are going to pay an older RB 10 million. Sacrifice has to come from more than the WR position

The only reason I hope they repeat tonight is if Lynch has a Beast Mode game and is named the MVP afterwards. I want to see the shite show that ensues when the Beast Mode feels Marshawn this evening.

My guess is that this means Maxwell and Okung are off the table as far as extensions. The focus this offseason will be on Lynch, Wilson, and Wagner.

Former NBA player Leon Powe – who helped the Celtics win their 2008 title and then played for the Cavaliers and Grizzlies – was a high school basketball teammate of Marshawn Lynch.

Powe had been on the receiving end of a hard foul and had to come off the floor because he wanted to retaliate. Lynch saw the play unfold and went on the hunt.

“Marshawn came to me. He said, ‘I got you,’” said Powe. “The following play, the guy got a fast break. He jumped and Marshawn ran out of nowhere — he was fast as lightening, strong. He just, like, speared the guy, tackled him into the stands. He got a flagrant.

“I pulled Marshawn to the side and said, ‘You can’t do that. That’s illegal. You’ll get ejected and kicked out for that. I just wanted you to touch him up a little bit.’ He just laughed, ‘That’s what I do.’ That’s all that he said.”

Am I crazy or were there rumors the Seahawks would trade him after the season at one point this year?

That was the case, but I think that they thought he was done. He obviously isn't done.

my gut tells me he's gonna turn into a Charlie Sheen-like gimmick pretty soon once he starts cashing in on this attention

They have like 5 players they should shell it out for no matter what -- Sherman, Thomas, Mebane, Bennett and Lynch.

They can moneyball everyone else.

I recall some of it having to do with his personality. I remember it being very similar to the Harbaugh stuff. But winning fixes everything.
