Schexnaider out at ULM

ULM coach Jeff Schexnaider has been relieved of his duties after more than eight years as the Warhawks head baseball coach.
Athletic director Brian Wickstrom notified Schexnaider Thursday morning of the decision after the team started this year 8-17 and 1-5 in Sun Belt Conference games.
“This is about college athletics, about the student athletes, and I said that when I was hired here by (President Nick) Bruno that my job was to come in and evaluate the programs and make changes and do the things to enhance the facilities, enhance the budget and enhance the student athlete experience,” Wickstrom said. “I just think that we need to go in a different direction to live up to the promise that we gave these players when they signed their letters of intent and when they came here to play college baseball at ULM

Said he was making $80,000 a year. Wickstrom is a coward. He just affected a family with his decision. Small school athletics are so jekll and hyde with athletes that coaches should ALMOST never get fired due to wins and losses. I been to a game there and its a great atmosphere, that I heard he created

I'm sure he has been bought out of whatever years he has remaining. No one likes seeing people lose their jobs but ULM is terrible and that falls on the coach. He can go back to coaching high school pretty easily.

I am just partial to coaches who work for the love of the game and not $$. If you expect more W's than L's every year, pay the coaches and maybe add incentives. Pay to make program bigger and dont micro manage. I do also know it comes with the territory in coaching.
