That's not poor explosion numbers. He's quick, just didn't look very fluid. Surely explosive enough for a free ride somewhere.

These aren't high school times, they are from several different college coachs and scouts this summer. He was times in the 4.4s 6 times and once at 4.37. If they added 20 lbs to him he'd be playing Linebacker.

Still hand timed which means he's at least .2 seconds slower. I've seen the kid play and he is not a 4.37 guy...heck he's not a 4.4 guy. That's not a knock on him, it's just reality.

In 2013 the fastest average 40 time by position was WR and CB with a 4.48 and that was done using combine times.

4.37 was the 6th fastest time at the 2016 NFL combine

Strongbackweakmind. Not sure if your insinuating something. He still managed to finish 23rd or 24th in scoring after having a bad day. He ran track this spring for the first time and his 4 x 100 team won state runner up and 3rd in the 4x 200. He has been working with a speed coach and working hard. So... Just in case you're saying you don't believe his times, there you go.

I'm not insinuating anything. Those are his times from the Nike camp that he posted on his twitter account three months ago: 4.54.

I don't believe he ran a 4.37. The handheld stopwatch might have read that, but it's not his actual time. Like I said earlier, 4.37 was the 6th fastest 40 in the 2016 combine. Just to put his score into perspective.

Hell, Trindon Holliday ran a 4.34.

I don't have anything against the kid. I wish him all the best. But I am highly skeptical when someone starts bragging about their college 40 times.

I don't know the kid, but he has a great family background. He will do well in any endeavor he pursues.

BidEd on the 100m time, I don't know but he ran his leg of the 100 in 9.98 in the state final at LSU.
Look, I've never timed him. We only know what several different college coachs timed him at. But yeah your knocking him. How about good job kid and good luck!? You guys don't have to pretend to be experts and break kids down. Bottom line he is fast enough, big enough, and strong enough to play college ball SOMEWHERE. If you have"seen him play" you must know that.
And by the way, we didn't start this thread, someone who believes in him did
He's obviously mine and I'll stand up for him, obviously! Have a good one guys. Gotta love this site!

I'm knocking the entire inflated 40 system. We hear the same thing year after year.

I did wish him good luck, multiple times now. And I mean it. I'll root for any whiteboy defensive backs. They are few and far between at the NFL level. He's obviously fast. Hopefully he has what it takes to make it at the collegiate level.

ETA: The internet is a brutally honest place.

It's usually typical to knock half a second off your time in the relay. 10.5 wouldn't be a bad time at all.

You've got to understand the nature of the board.we are all hall of fame coaches on here. Obviously

He's gotten so much faster this year from running track. It's really unbelievable. He's consistently run in the 4.4's all summer at every camp he's gone to except The Opening in NOLA. Everyone knows their times are notoriously slow, even for Nike events. That's where Speedy ran a 4.6 I believe. He has the traps of Goldberg. Looks completely different than last year physically. Only knock I've seen is height and there's nothing he can do about that obviously. Here he is at The Opening Regionals, all the way to the right.

There's no Hudl, WM doesn't use them. They have a special service where all film is online, but you have to have a user login and password to see it/be on the team or be a college coach.

You can throw out any hand timed stuff at the High school level. as well as weights and heights

Whenever they have to put that stuff in the programs they exaggerate so they can brag and intimidate the other teams.

Actually for some reason, WM's H/W are always less. I don't know why, just always been that way. Family member currently on the team was 24 pounds heavier than his listed weight last year.

I'm several years away from the combine circuit, but I can promise you'll I'll drive to Houston or Dallas before he runs in Nola

I begged my family to go elsewhere, preferably Dallas, but I think Dallas was still during baseball playoffs in Louisiana. Nephew ran .17 slower than he has all Summer. Next year I'm sure he will go to Dallas or Houston.

Any particular reason for the slower times in NOLA?

IDK about 40s. It's been that way for years. Shuttles are due to staying in the same spot and the pellets getting shifted around. Kids were slipping and sliding everywhere. Probably same trouble with the 40. First few are fine, but then they'll slip.
