Whoever put this together did a great job.

Multiple clips including Don Criqui's CBS call as well the Saints radio call.

The clarity of the NFL Films video is phenomenal. Enjoy.

It's still the record in terms of kick spot.

That was great. Fun facts, I saw Dempsey's kick live on TV and Bart Starr's famous qb sneak led by Jerry Kramer against Dallas in the championship game.

My Dad loved watching football so I began watching early. Yes, I am pretty old now, lol.

I guess the rule has changed since then but that would officially be a 62 yarder now. The ball was spotted in front of the 38-yard line.

I am not talking about the goal posts being on the goal line.

The way stats are officially done, if a ball is past a yard line it’s officially on the next yard line, except for the 1/G (can’t be on the zero yard line) and when the ball is inside the 11 and a first down can still be made.

That was fantastic. Never knew how they got to that spot on the field
Wonder how many people left after the Lions fg and never saw history

I guess you had to get out of bounds to stop the clock on a kickoff back then

Amazing how little it looked like he tried, just a standard two step from straight on. Really put the length into perspective when the camera zoomed out too

That was fun to watch.

I can’t get over the fluidity in the movements of the refs in their signaling, it was almost like they were dancing, had me cracking up.

I appreciate the higher quality graphics, as it allows me to better examine the field decor. I like how they made a plaque-like affect in the Saints endzone with the curved borders

The Saints were gracious hosts who honoured their opponents with their own endzone, and here you see "LIONS" painted with the same plaque effect (against a solid blue background that may have been a permanent "Tulane" endzone?)

Because the field is so chewed up by that November game, the small medallions painted at midfield and the 35 yard lines are unclear... my research leads me to believe that is a Lions helmet...

... because in week 3 of the same season when the grass was in better shape, you see that a Saints helmet was painted at the opposite 35 yard line, meaning that the logo by Dempseys kick is a Lions helmet

Great piece.

Had no idea how improbable the circumstances were that allowed them to get in position for the kick.

How about that 1st tackle? By the head, out of bounds, and no penalty! Hope all of the "Does Troy Aikman deserve to be in the HOF? guys see how football used to be played.

Had no idea how they got to that area on the field either. The clarity was great too. Loved this.

Great share man.

Watching it makes me think…

They actually had to move the goalposts between Saints and Tulane games back then.

My dad was there. He said both Saints and Lions fans were filing out of the stadium after the Lions took the lead. He said the fans who’d left early were asking him outside the stadium what the hell just happened and they couldn’t believe it.

Did you see that Detroit guy commit a cheap shot by throwing the ball at him? I mean, yeah, he got tackled around the head but that was legal then. Should have beaten him to a pulp on that sideline.
