So I am now living in Denver and now am faced with the dilema of deciding to root for the Broncos or not. I love my Saints, but I find it hard to get excited to for the Broncos. I have never been a NBA or MLB fan, but anyone have any experience with moving to a large city and taking a liking to the local teams? I'd love to get into MLB with the Rockies, but IDK if I'll ever have that connection that I do with the Saints and LSU.

I know there's gotta be some Louisiana transplants in Atlanta/Dallas/Houston... any of you eventually fall in love with your local teams?

Oh, almost forgot... Frickin Teblow is the star of this city

I'm by no means a Texans fan but I don't hate them and will go to a game if given tix or they're cheap.

Stick with rooting for your original home team. Most people do that. Or root for both. Broncos are in the AFC anyway, so make them your AFC team and the saints your NFC team.

Why does it matter where you live? Just because you live in Denver doesn't mean you have to pull for them. Don't be such a pussy. Pull for who you want instead of who it's popular to pull for.

Why is it that the whole of TD assumes that if you move somewhere you have to stop liking your former favorite team automatically go with the hometown team......I saw this thread on Saints Talk a few months ago and was baffled by it.

I root for the saints when they don't play the cowboys..

I root for LSU always

There is no baseball team so I don't have to choose the Rangers over another team, but I will

I have only begun to like local teams that I didnt have a team in before. Oakland A's and San Jose Sharks. Still love the Saints and Hornets and LSU sports. No reason to abandon your old teams for new ones unless you weren't a fan. Only downfall is when your team loses to the local team and everyone calls you up and wants to talk to you.

I will always root for Saints and LSU. However, I will most likely be attending local sporting events and would love to actually enjoy the teams I am watching. I just feel that I will never truly be passionate about these teams as I am for the Saints and LSU.

I'll follow the local team more closely than i normally would but I still would never buy gear for the 49ers or Raiders.

Not really a dilemma.

love my Saints

Maybe it was easier for me because there was no way I would even consider cheering for a rival like the Falcons, but moving to a new city doesn't mean abandoning your old teams or picking up new teams. If it's a new sport that you haven't gotten into much before then maybe, but otherwise you have no need to explore other allegiances.

This is what I do with the Texans; however, its really hard to care about this shitty team.

Also, I hope the Astros get moved to the American League so I can root for them and not feel like I am betraying my beloved Braves.

I grew up in Alabama. I was never really a big fan of any pro teams. Although, I do like pro sports. I hated the Braves, mostly b/c everyone else like them.

I moved to the Dallas/Ft Worth area a few years ago. I started following the local teams. I immediately became a fan of the Rangers and Mavs. I think it is because they are easy to like and there is not really a reason to hate them. I tried to pull for the Cowboys, but I just can't do it. Cowboys fans are annoying and their team is run like shite.

For me, it was easy b/c I didn't have an allegiance to any particular team. If I did, then there is no way I would change just b/c I moved to another city.

I'm not changing allegiance, I just want to go to a game and be interested enough to not sit there and twiddle my fingers.

This.

I’ve got my number one, but I’ve adopted numerous other teams from having moved/lived in so many different places. I pull for the Saints first and foremost beyond anything. After that I follow the Chiefs, Chargers, Steelers, and Texans.

Don't be the douche who moves somewhere and just shits on the local team unless you had a pre-existing hatred.

I pull for the Texans, Rockets, and Astros. I don't love the Texans like I love the Saints but the majority of NFL news we get here is about the Texans so you become familiar with the players and coaches. I was here when the Oilers left and here when the Texans arrived.
