Chip Kelly is no shrinking violet when it comes to players with trouble making tendencies. He saw first hand at Oregon what happens if that type of person is allowed to stay in the locker room. For the Eagles to cut him, not trade him but cut him, says that there was a lot more going on then DJ just giving gang signs or being due a lot of money. LSU fans know first hand what former friends did to Ryan Perriloux & the Honey Badger & the ripple effect that had on their teams.

Not really comparable since these guys had plenty off the field issues and Jackson had one in 6 years in Philly.
If you want to cut him for the money and the coach not liking his personality, fine. But don't trash him with something they've known about for years that wasn't really an issue.

. I don't think it's fair to say once guys make it they should just completely turn their back on those guys. It's easy to say from afar, not being in that situation.

If Jackson thinks these people have his best interest in mind then fine it's his life and his money. However it seems like these people are damaging his career.

Good article.

But I think the Eagles cut DeSean because he wasn't doing things Chip Kelly wanted.

They've known about his "gang ties" for years. They knew about it when they drafted him. Has nothing to do with this, really.

To be fair, they didn't say any of that.

NJ.com is the one who ran the story based on "sources."

They used it as leverage, sure, so they endorsed it with silence, but it's not something they've come out and said.

Sherman is a thug and suggesting that Irsay might be involved in drug trafficking is just ridiculous.

No I understood his point but the Irsay example was ridiculous. Also, comparing a racist to a gang member is stupid. I think it's great to stick by your friends but real friends wouldn't drag you down like Jacksons are.

Riley Cooper isn't a racist. Just because you say that word, doesn't make you a racist.

Based on all the examples of other people who got caught wilthdrugs/pills whatever and a ton of cash in cash in brown bags and a briefcase and don't get charged with intent to distribute?

Based on all the NFL athletes who have a similar issue/arrest and the media only really talks about how they need help, not how they are thugs and should be suspended blah blah blah?

Yea, based on all of those examples?

How many times have we seen this with certain pro athletes [Ex.Sean Taylor & Mike Vick]

I can only assume from this statement that you don't know the meaning of the word "thug." For your information, "thug" does not mean Stanford educated, talented althlete, who also happens to be a talented writer.

I don't want to spoil the suprise, so I'll let you look up the word yourself. But before you do, mind telling the rest of us just how tall that ivory tower you're sitting in happens to be?

Was DeSean supposed to then say, “Thanks guys, but now that I’m a millionaire, please leave me alone”?

Isray is White executive & ridiculous to assume he would be involved with drugs say like a Car manufacturers/Executive like John DeLorean.

Delorean was videotaped by the Feds boasting about a briefcase full of cocaine as his 'Gold'. He walked I am sure because people like Asu480 who believe the whole dea is ridiculous/undeliverable.

That wasn't the point Sherman was making anyway, but one of perception, guilt by association & race.
